AbstractThe article asks whether the divided town Cieszyn-Český Těšín can be considered a joint “living space” in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. It evaluates the impact of the pandemic on various aspects of the daily lives of the inhabitants and institutions of both parts of this divided town. Three main dimensions of cross-border integration were studied: cross-border flows, cross-border structures/institutions, and the feeling of togetherness, which represents an ideational dimension of cross-border integration. This research aims to analyze recruitment by quintas, Spanish word for recruitment levies by lot, in the city of Valencia and the townships included in its jurisdictional area. The analyzed period began in 1717 with the first levie decreted by king Philip V once the War of Spanish Succession was over. Applied this levie in the kingdom of Valencia, this was the first application of levies by lot. The closing year for the reported period up to 1762, whith the last levy made by king Charles III before the establishment of the annual periodicity for the recruitment process. The landscape units of the Sicilian mountainous inland, as for the case of Petralia Soprana, are marked by the presence of ancient urban centres controlling the agricultural territory, from which they derived their own wealth, and to which they conferred landscape significance. The unity between economy and landscape has been interrupted by the radical transformation of the socio-economic structure and the technologic progress, which have eroded the consistency between structures and superstructures.
