2010

2018
Since the introduction of the Bologna Process, the goal of education has been not only to acquire technical skills but also to master other skills, such as teamwork, effective communication skills, time optimization, and the ability to manage one's emotions. The present work describes a program to develop emotional intelligence in higher education, the “Emotional Intelligence Training Program,” with a multimethodological approach that offers the opportunity for university students to develop their emotional intelligence. A total of 192 higher education students participated in this educational experience. Of the participants, 66% were women, and 34% were men; the average age of the sample w…
Training programme for novice physical activity instructors using Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model : a programme development …
2021
Previous research indicates that programmes employing Hellison?s Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model in physical activity have had a positive impact on youth development by increasing participants? positive values, autonomy, life skills, and prosocial behaviour. Despite encouraging results of the effects of TPSR-based programmes, there remains lack of research on the effective content of these programmes, and their implementation and evaluation. The current protocol article describes the development of a TPSR-based instructor training programme and a plan for an intervention study in which novice instructors learn to understand and apply the TPSR model in practice. The …
Entrepreneurial Processes of the Finnish Franchisee Training Program’s Graduates
2013
The current study reports the results of the third and final phase of the longitudinal study on trainees of the Finnish franchisee training program. The study targeted the 46 respondents who in the previous phases indicated that they became either franchisees or self-employed in stand-alone businesses after graduation. The purpose of the study was to find out what factors influenced the respondents’ entrepreneurial decision-making processes and what role the training program played in these processes. Trainees’ entrepreneurial decision-making processes proved to be dissimilar. Some were pushed while others were pulled to entrepreneurship. The program was found to be a factor in the responde…

2013
This longitudinal study was carried out to assess the efficacy of a cognitive behavioural training program that was designed to modify the cognitive and emotional processes related to work stress in a sample of teachers. The training group consisted of 21 teachers, and the non training group comprised of 16 teachers. The training program was divided into four on-site sessions, and the difference between time 1 and time 2 was 4 months. The training program significantly reduced psychosomatic disorders levels in the training group from Time 1 to Time 2, and it significantly increased cortisol levels from time 1 to time 2.
Muscle function and functional ability improves more in community-dwelling older women with a mixed-strength training programme
2005
Supervised training can reach a limited number of elderly people. To determine the impact of a 1-year mixed-strength training programme on muscle function (MF), functional ability (FA) and physical activity (PA).Twice-a-week hospital-based exercise classes and a once-a-week home session.twenty-eight healthy community-dwelling men and women on the training programme and 20 controls aged over 75 years.Training with two multi-gym machines for the lower limbs at 60% of the repetition maximum (1RM). Combination of intensive cognitive rehabilitation and donepezil therapy in Alzheimer's disease (AD).
2009
Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AchEIs) are extensively used in Alzheimer's disease (AD) while reality orientation therapy (ROT) is a cognitive rehabilitation indicated for mentally deteriorated patients. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the combination of donepezil with an intensive ROT with active participation of the caregiver. Patients with AD (n=100, mean age 78.4±4.3 years) initiated treatment with donepezil, 5mg/day; 62 of them underwent a 3-week, daily ROT and physical reactivation training with the caregiver (Group A); 38 participants received only donepezil therapy (Group B). All subjects were tested for cognitive and functional abilities at baseline, at the end of the traini…
Practice-Related Improvements in Postural Control During Rapid Arm Movement in Older Adults: A Preliminary Study
2012
International audience; Background. Postural control associated with self-paced movement is critical for balance in older adults. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of a virtual reality based program on the postural control associated with rapid arm movement in this population. Methods. From an upright standing position, participants performed rapid arm raising movements toward a target. Practice-related changes were assessed by pre- and posttest comparisons of hand kinematics and center of pressure displacement parameters measured in a training group (mean age: 71.50 +/- 2.67 years, n = 8) and a control group (mean age: 72.87 +/- 3.09 years, n = 8). Training group participa…
Effects of a Classroom Training Program for Promoting Health Literacy Among IT Managers in the Workplace: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Effects of classroom training on health literacy, psychological well-being, self-rated health, and cortisol awakening response were investigated using pre- (t0), post- (t1), and follow-up (t2) surveys. Results The intervention effects (time and group) were not significant for the primary outcome of health literacy. At the second measu…
