Managing the repatriation of professionals following overseas assignment

2017

Despite decades of research about culture shock, and latterly but not to the same extent, reverse culture shock, it seems that little is understood about how to manage the process of repatriation after an overseas assignment in the commercial world. Attrition rates of repatriates leaving their employers within the first year following their return continue to rise as those individuals consistently report feeling undervalued by their employers. This study is concerned with how best to manage the process of repatriation from the employees’ point of view. It therefore looks at how a group of repatriating Finns from various professional backgrounds perceived the effects of reverse culture shock…

Investigating the success of ERP systems in Pakistan : end-users' perspective

2016

The global business environment is changing rapidly, and organisations from developing countries such as Pakistan have to re-engineer their business processes to meet the challenges of increased competition and rising customer expectations. However, organisations adopting ERP systems encounter many types of problems that may lead to failures in processes, expectations and interactions. In order to address these failures, researchers have identified the critical success factors in the…

The efficacy of anaerobic training on multiple sclerosis symptoms management

2021

Purpose: the aim of this study was to investigated the improvement of physical health status and reduce the chronic fatigue associated with that pathology in people with multiple sclerosis following lactacid anaerobic training protocol. Methods: 8 subjects (age: 34,88 ± 4,45) affected by multiple sclerosis (EDSS < 3.5) were involved in our study. An anaerobic lactacid training was administered for 12 weeks, 2 times a week, an hour and a half for each session. At the beginning (T0), at the end of the study (T1) and after 9 months from the end of the study (Follow-up, FU) physical parameters (body compositions analysis; strength, balance and reaction tests; Visual Analog Fatigue Scale, VAF…

The effect of the teacher training in subject teacher education on the teaching confidence of 2nd and 3rd year English major students

2008

The Effect of an enriched sport program on children's executive functions: the ESA program

2020

Purpose: The effects of physical exercise on executive functions (EFs) are well documented. EFs are involved in daily activities, and their development determines the quality of people’s future life, both in terms of mental health and quality of life. The purpose of the current paper is to evaluate the effects of a physical education program, elaborated within the Enriched Sports Activity Program (ESA Program), an Erasmus + Project, on EFs, namely, visuospatial working memory, inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and task switching. Method: Data were collected on November 2017 (t1) and May 2018 (t2). At t1, a sample of 357 children from four European countries (Italy, Germany, Lithuan…

Comparisons of two diaphragm ultrasound-teaching programs: a multicenter randomized controlled educational study

2019

Abstract Background This study aims to ascertain whether (1) an educational program is sufficient to achieve adequate Diaphragm Ultrasound (DUS) assessments on healthy volunteers and (2) combining a video tutorial with a practical session is more effective in making learners capable to obtain accurate DUS measurements, as opposed to sole video tutorial. Results We enrolledstep 1: 172 volunteers naïve to ultrasound. After watching a video tutorial, a questionnaire was administered and considered to be passed when at least 70% of the questions were correctly answered. Course participants who passed the theoretical test were randomized to either intervention or control group. Learners randomiz…

This article shows the design, development and evaluation of a software for teaching support in a music training course for pre-service non music teachers. The aim of EMOLab has been addressing to both production and perception musical activities. The assessment of software was done by freshmen enrolled in Elementary Education Teacher Training degree. They completed a questionnaire that collected their opinions (versatility, efficiency, ease of use, quality of graphical environment, adequacy, interest, facilitating learning, feedback, functionality) and perceptions on more general aspects (control, guidance, affection, consultation, verification, tracing). The data suggest that students per…
