However, up to 30% of these patients show primary resistance to FLT3-TKIs. Goblet cells of the conjunctival epithelium synthesize and secrete TFF1 (Trefoil factor 1), a small protease-resistant peptide that, together with mucins, is responsible for the rheologic properties of the tear film. It consists of three exons interspersed by two introns, intron 1 interrupting the signal peptide. To understand the regulatory mechanisms of ACP-20 expression, ACP-20 promoter-luciferase reporter gene constructs were transfected into cultured pharate adult wing epidermis. Many cancer cells express Fas but do not undergo Fas-mediated apoptosis. Nitric oxide reverses this resistance by increasing levels of Fas at the plasma membrane. Arginine clustering on calix[4]arene macrocycles for improved cell penetration and DNA delivery

Cell-penetrating peptides are widely used as molecular transporters for the internalization inside cells of various cargo, including proteins and nucleic acids. A special role is played by arginine-rich peptides and oligoarginines covalently linked or simply mixed with the cargo. Here we report cell-penetrating agents in which arginine units are clustered on a macrocyclic scaffold. Instead of using long peptides, four single arginine units were covalently attached to either the upper or lower rim of a calix[4]arene, kept in the cone conformation building a ‘parallel’ cyclic array. These new macrocyclic carriers show high efficiency in DNA delivery and transfection in a variety of cell lines.

Benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P), one of the best-studied PAHs, is metabolized ultimately to the genotoxin anti-B[a]P-7,8-dihydrodiol-9,10-epoxide (BPDE). The aim of this study was to investigate whether telmisartan protects the heart from the ischaemia/reperfusion damage through a local microRNA-1 modulation. Studies on the myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion injury in vivo and on the cardiomyocyte hypoxia/reoxygenation damage in vitro were done.
