International audience; This article intends to show the network of influences, borrowings and intertextual references in Robert Frost's long poems-their rewriting of ancient models, forms and myths and their Americanization of the pastoral genre. Our exploration of the Frostian fascination for the ancient Mediterranean world will be based on the poet's 1961 trip to Israel and Greece and his reappropriation of such legacy.

International audience; Lithium iodate (LiIO3) exists at room temperature either as hexagonal (alpha) or tetragonal (beta) crystals. Beta-LiIO3 is stable up to the melting point, whereas alpha-LiIO3 is known to undergo phase transitions. We have studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA) the sequence of phase transitions occurring on powders prepared by different processes. An alpha-LiIO3 powder obtained by grinding a single crystal exhibits the well-known transformations alpha-gamma-beta. A powder obtained by fast evaporation of an aqueous solution transforms directly the alpha to the beta and does not exhibit any intermediate gamma phase. Abstract In situ synchrotron time-resolved X-ray diffraction experiments coupled with an infrared imaging camera have been used to reveal the combustion wave structure during the production of MoSi2 by Mechanically Activated Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (MASHS). The fast combustion front exhibits a form described as an ‘equilibrium structure’ where the chemical reaction is the sole major driving force. In the MASHS process, oxide-free interfaces between Mo and Si nanocrystallites enhance the reaction Mo+2Si→MoSi2. Phase-Noise and Amplitude-Noise Measurement of DACs and DDSs

This article proposes a method for the measurement of Phase Noise (PN, or PM noise) and Amplitude Noise (AN, or AM noise) of Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC) and Direct Digital Synthesizers (DDS) based on modulation-index amplification. The carrier is first reduced by a controlled amount (30-40 dB) by adding a reference signal of nearly equal amplitude and opposite in phase. Then, residual carrier and noise sidebands are amplified and sent to a conventional PN analyzer. The main virtues of our method are: (i) the noise specs of the PN analyzer are relaxed by a factor equal to the carrier suppression ratio; and, (ii) the capability to measure the AN using a PN analyzer, with no need for th…

Darbā tiek aplūkotas tulkošanas īpatnības bērnu literatūras jomā, pamatojoties uz D. Harmsa darbu tulkojumiem latviešu valodā. Praktiskajā daļā tiek analizēti piemēri no oriģinālajiem un tulkotajiem darbiem, kā arī tiek analizēti bērnu poētisko tekstu uzbūves principi. Īpaša uzmanība darbā tiek veltīta bērnu literatūras poētiskā teksta tulkošanas īpatnībām. Autors balsta analīzi uz bērnu avangarda literatūras sarežģītās valodas mūsdienu tulkojumiem. Šis darbs var ieinteresēt filologus, tulkus, kā arī citus ieinteresētos lasītājus.
