Heavy ion SEE studies on 4-Gbit NAND-Flash memories

Heavy ion SEE studies on three 4-Gbit NAND-flash memory types were performed at the RADEF facility at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland with particular emphasis on SEFI differentiation. An error classification for complex memory devices is introduced, and respective cross sections are reported.

Heat exchangers and linear image processing theory

Abstract This paper shows that the transient analysis of some heat exchangers can be derived easily with the linear equations of image processing theory. Partial differential equations of the cross-flow, parallelflow and rotary heat exchangers are considered together with the corresponding discrete models for linear image processing. Some numerical examples show that the nature of the heat and/or mass transfer problems is similar to those of image processing.

A Novel Linear-Non-Linear Digital Control for DC/DC Converter with Fast Transient Response

In this paper, a digitally controlled multimodule DC-DC converter with fast transient response, based on a linear-nonlinear control is presented. The proposed digital control improves the stability of the system, cuts off the effects of limit-cycle and reduces the recovery time, by making the "effective" bandwidth of the system independent of the bandwidth of the linear control loop and limits, at the same time, output voltage variations. A linear-non-linear digital control for multi-module DC/DC converters that improves system stability, solves the limit-cycle problem, reduces recovery time and limits over- and under-shoots in regulated output voltage, is presented. A simulation model in Matlab-Simulink/Active-HDL mixed environment is described. Preliminary hardware tests on a single-phase step-down converter are reported. Simulation and experimental results are shown.

Transient nutations decay: The effect of field-modified dipolar interaction

The anomalous behavior of transient nutations is experimentally investigated in a set of two-level $(S=\frac{1}{2})$ spin systems differing only in spin concentration. Our results show that the non-Bloch power dependence of the decay rate of transient nutations is a concentration-dependent effect, which is more and more pronounced in more and more concentrated samples. The experimental results are interpreted in the framework of the recent theory by Shakhmuratov et al. [Phys. Rev. Extended fractional-order Jeffreys model of viscoelastic hydraulic cylinder

A novel modeling approach for viscoelastic hydraulic cylinders, with negligible inertial forces, is proposed, based on the extended fractional-order Jeffreys model. Analysis and physical reasoning for the parameter constraints and order of the fractional derivatives are provided. Comparison between the measured and computed frequency response functions and time domain transient response argues in favor of the proposed four-parameter fractional-order model.

Ancestry and demography and descendants of Iron Age nomads of the Eurasian Steppe

During the 1st millennium before the Common Era (BCE), nomadic tribes associated with the Iron Age Scythian culture spread over the Eurasian Steppe, covering a territory of more than 3,500 km in breadth. To understand the demographic processes behind the spread of the Scythian culture, we analysed genomic data from eight individuals and a mitochondrial dataset of 96 individuals originating in eastern and western parts of the Eurasian Steppe. Genomic inference reveals that Scythians in the east and the west of the steppe zone can best be described as a mixture of Yamnaya-related ancestry and an East Asian component. Field Reconstruction for Modeling Multiple Faults in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors in Transient States

Conventional field reconstruction model (FRM) for electrical machines has proved its main strength in efficient computations of magnetic fields and forces in healthy permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) or faulty machines in steady states. This study aims to develop a magnet library of different magnet defects and include inter-turn short-circuit (ITSC) in the FRM for PMSM.
