Polʹskie i russkie hristianskie èortonimy v perevodčeskom i leksikografičeskom aspekte

2021

The study of religious language in modern linguistics has opened up opportunities for various kinds of research. The object of the study is the religious vocabulary as an integral part of the religious language, which can function in various ways. Russian and Polish Christian eortonyms translation, single - and bilingual general and specialized dictionaries of Polish and Russian religious vocabulary, and works on religious language were used as the research material. Attention is drawn to the need for further research not only of the "Orthodox version" of Polish, but also of the practically unexplored "Catholic version" of the Russian religious language, since the meanings of eortonyms are …

Religious vocabulary covers a very wide area and includes numerous thematic blocks. From the lexicographer's point of view, it can be divided into two groups. The first is popular words often used in everyday life, and the second group in this conditional classification covers terminological religious vocabulary of a thematic nature, ranging from purely material, subject, cult concepts, and ending with philosophical and theological concepts. In the context of ongoing research, the author is interested in the specifics of translation and lexicographic description of eortonyms.

Sexuality in translation. Exploring the troubled seas of (un)official censorship: James Joyce's Ulysses in Serbo-Croatian

2017

The Translation of Sex-Related Language: The Danger(s) of Self-Censorship(s)1

2009

While censorship is an external constraint on what we can publish or (re)write, self-censorship is an individual ethical struggle between self and context. In all historical circumstances, translators tend to produce rewritings which are ‘acceptable’ from both social and personal perspectives. The translation of swearwords and sex-related language is a case in point, which very often depends on historical and political circumstances, and is also an area of personal struggle, of ethical/moral dissent, of religious/ideological controversies. In this paper we analyse the translation of the lexeme fuck into Spanish and Catalan. We have chosen two novels by Helen Fielding—Bridget Jones’s Diary (…

LAS ESTRATEGIAS DE AUTOTRADUCCIÓN, MANIPULACIÓN Y PERSUASIÓN EN "30 DÍAS EN MADRID/30 GIORNI A MADRID", SECCIÓN HABITUAL DE ACTUALIDAD DE LA REVISTA:…

2018

The purpose of this article is to analyze the self-translation strategies, together with the manipulation and persuasion policies present in the column “30 Días en Madrid/30 Giorni a Madrid” of the journal Legiones y Falanges/Legioni e Falangi. This column, written by the critic Masoliver relating briefly the political events of the time, represents a sample of how, in those times, translation – as intersemiotic processes – could be considered an ideal expression of a linguistic ideology, as well as an expression of the desire to build a national identity.

Spanish validation of general decision-making style scale: Sex invariance, sex differences and relationships with personality and coping styles

2019

AbstractThe General Decision-Making Styles (GDMS) scale measures five decision-making styles: rational, intuitive, dependent, avoidant and spontaneous. GDMS has been related to coping and some personality factors and sex-differences has been described. In spite of its usefulness, there is not a validated Spanish translation. The aim of this study is to translate to Spanish and provide psychometric evidence considering sex differences and the relationships between GDMS, personality and coping variables. Two samples were used for this study; the first sample composed by 300 participants who completed the GDMS and the Rational-Experiential Inventory (REI), and the second sample of 361 particip…
