Molecular interaction of artemisinin with translationally controlled tumor protein (TCTP) of Plasmodium falciparum

Malaria causes millions of death cases per year. Since Plasmodium falciparum rapidly develops drug resistance, it is of high importance to investigate potential drug targets which may lead to novel rational therapy approaches. Here we report on the interaction of translationally controlled tumor protein of P. falciparum (PfTCTP) with the anti-malarial drug artemisinin. Furthermore, we investigated the crystal structure of PfTCTP. Vector representation of non-standard spellings using dynamic time warping and a denoising autoencoder

The presence of non-standard spellings in Twitter causes challenges for many natural language processing tasks. Traditional approaches mainly regard the problem as a translation, spell checking, or speech recognition problem. This paper proposes a method that represents the stochastic relationship between words and their non-standard versions in real vectors. The method uses dynamic time warping to preprocess the non-standard spellings and autoencoder to derive the vector representation. Recent research into using translation as a communicative and functional activity in foreign language learning and teaching has pointed out a wide range of benefits for advanced language learners. The research reported in this paper involved teachers teaching translation in the EU-specialisation module integrated into the English bachelor’s degree programme in Hungary. The survey set out to explore teachers’ instructional practices as well as their views and experiences regarding translation. AbstractThe evolutionary conserved elongation factor eIF5A is required for the translation of mRNAs that encode protein sequences with consecutive prolines or combined with glycine and charged amino acids. Mammalian collagens are enriched in putative eIF5A-dependent Pro-Gly-containing tripeptides. Here, we show that eIF5A is needed for heterologous expression of collagen in yeast, and using a dual luciferase reporter system we confirmed that eIF5A depletion interrupts translation at Pro-Gly-collagenic motifs. The tandemly repeated sea urchin alpha-histone genes are developmentally regulated. These genes are transcribed up to the early blastula stage and permanently silenced as the embryos approach gastrulation. As previously described, expression of the alpha-H2A gene depends on the binding of the MBF-1 activator to the 5' enhancer, while down-regulation relies on the functional interaction between the 3' sns 5 insulator and the GA repeats located upstream of the enhancer. In this article we shall be looking at the character of MacMorris in Henry V, and at his small but important role in the four captains’ scene. We shall explore some of the historical, cultural, political, dramaturgical and linguistic complexities of his portrayal of Irishness as a necessary preliminary study to its translation into other languages, both for the printed page and for the stage. Spanish and Catalan translations of the scene will be briefly analysed in what we hope will be the framework of a wider, multilingual preoccupation: how does national identity translate in a global context? How does —or can— MacMorris speak in other languages?

Segmentation and Navigation Support of Clinical Data Sets to Simulate the Bronchoscopy and Rhinoscopy

A training and simulation system for therapy planning is developed based on patient specific imaging data. A real endoscope is used for navigation through the virtual patient. For this purpose sensors were built in the endoscope in order to track the translation, rotation and the angle of the distal end. Pre-processing (segmentation, tissue characterization) speeds-up the volume rendering up to real-time. Collision detection enables a realistic fly through the virtual patient.
