NoC based virtualized FPGA as cloud Services

2016

International audience; Web-based applications are increasingly demanding many computationally intensive services. On the other hand, FPGA-based hardware accelerators(HwAcc) provide good performance in accelerating computationally intensive applications. In addition, some FPGAs support a dynamic partial reconfig-uration (DPR) techniques to virtualize and share the FPGA underlying hardware resources in time multiplexing during run-time to save resource and power consumption. Integrating FPGA in a cloud environment is an indispensable way to improve efficiency and provide acceleration services to demanding users. More importantly, in recent years it was proved that FPGA resources deployed in …

A New Universal-Environment Adaptive Multi-processor Scheduler for Autonomous Cyber-Physical System

2012

International audience; Robot, spaceship and other applications that can be called autonomous Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are all smart embedded systems, which usually run in open environment by themselves with inhered intelligent capabilities. Besides the application intelligence, the researches of adaptive platform for such systems have also become topics recently. Based on the analysis of current work, a new environment adaptive scheduler (¦Á-S) for multiprocessor platform of a cyber-physical system is proposed in this article. And then, its related structures, models, and reasoning methods are studied deeply. Different from the existing ones, ¦Á-S can schedule all tasks according to th…

A predictive approach for a real-time remote visualization of large meshes

2012

Déjà sur HAL; Remote access to large meshes is the subject of studies since several years. We propose in this paper a contribution to the problem of remote mesh viewing. We work on triangular meshes. After a study of existing methods of remote viewing, we propose a visualization approach based on a client-server architecture, in which almost all operations are performed on the server. Our approach includes three main steps: a first step of partitioning the original mesh, generating several fragments of the original mesh that can be supported by the supposed smaller Transfer Control Protocol (TCP) window size of the network, a second step called pre-simplification of the mesh partitioned, ge…

FOWLA, A Federated Architecture for Ontologies.

2015

International audience; The progress of information and communication technologies has greatly increased the quantity of data to process. Thus, managing data heterogeneity is a problem nowadays. In the 1980s, the concept of a Federated Database Architecture (FDBA) was introduced as a collection of components to unite loosely coupled federation. Semantic web technologies mitigate the data heterogeneity problem, however due to the data structure heterogeneity the integration of several ontologies is still a complex task. For tackling this problem, we propose a loosely coupled federated ontology architecture (FOWLA). Our approach allows the coexistence of various ontologies sharing common data…

Une architecture programmable de traitement des impulsions zéro-temps mort pour l'instrumentation nucléaire

2015

In the field of nuclear instrumentation, digital signal processing architectures have to deal with the poissonian characteristic of the signal, composed of random arrival pulses which requires current architectures to work in dataflow. Thus, the real-time needs implies losing pulses when the pulse rate is too high. Current architectures paralyze the acquisition of the signal during the pulse processing inducing a time during no signal can be processed, this is called the dead time. These issue have led current architectures to use dedicated solutions based on reconfigurable components such as FPGAs. The requirement of end users to implement a wide range of applications on a large number of …

A Mobile Computing Framework for Pervasive Adaptive Platforms

2012

International audience; Ubiquitous computing is now the new computing trend, such systems that interact with their environment require self-adaptability. Bioinspiration is a natural candidate to provide the capability to handle complex and changing scenarios. This paper presents a programming framework dedicated to pervasive platforms programming. This bioinspired and agentoriented framework has been developed within the frame of the PERPLEXUS European project that is intended to provide support for bioinspiration-driven system adaptability. This framework enables the platform to adapt itself to application requirements at high-level while using hardware acceleration at node level. The resu…

Scheduling independent stochastic tasks on heterogeneous cloud platforms

2019

International audience; This work introduces scheduling strategies to maximize the expected number of independent tasks that can be executed on a cloud platform within a given budget and under a deadline constraint. The cloud platform is composed of several types of virtual machines (VMs), where each type has a unitexecution cost that depends upon its characteristics. The amount of budget spent during the execution of a task on a given VM is the product of its execution length by the unit execution cost of that VM. The execution lengths of tasks follow a variety of standard probability distributions (exponential, uniform, halfnormal, etc.), which is known beforehand and whose mean and stand…

Scheduling independent stochastic tasks under deadline and budget constraints

2018

This article discusses scheduling strategies for the problem of maximizing the expected number of tasks that can be executed on a cloud platform within a given budget and under a deadline constraint. The execution times of tasks follow independent and identically distributed probability laws. The main questions are how many processors to enroll and whether and when to interrupt tasks that have been executing for some time. We provide complexity results and an asymptotically optimal strategy for the problem instance with discrete probability distributions and without deadline. We extend the latter strategy for the general case with continuous distributions and a deadline and we design an ef…

Automated detection of contextuality proofs with intermediate numbers of observables

2021

<div style=""&gt<font face="arial, helvetica"&gt<span style="font-size: 13px;"&gtQuantum contextuality takes an important place amongst the concepts of quantum computing that bring an advantage over its classical counterpart. For a large class of contextuality </span&gt</font&gt<span style="font-size: 13px; font-family: arial, helvetica;"&gtproofs, aka. observable-based proofs of the Kochen-Specker Theorem, we first formulate the</span&gt</div&gt<div style=""&gt<font face="arial, helvetica"&gt<span style="font-size: 13px;"&gtcontextuality property as the absence of solutions to a linear system. Then we explain why </span&gt</font&gt<span style="font-size: 13px; font-family: arial, helvetica…

A Route toward Protein Sequencing using Solid-State Nanopores Assisted by Machine Learning

2022

Solid-State Nanopores made of 2-D materials such as MoS2 have emerged as one of the most versatile sensors for single-biomolecule detection, which is essential for early disease diagnosis (biomarker detection). One of the most promising applications of SSN is DNA and protein sequencing, at a low cost and faster than the current standard methods. The detection principle relies on measuring the relatively small variations of ionic current as charged biomolecules immersed in an electrolyte traverse the nanopore, in response to an external voltage applied across the membrane. The passage of a biomolecule through the pore yields information about its structure and chemical properties, as demonst…
