Optimal lending contracts

This paper deals with financial contracting between a lender and a borrower with a project to finance. The borrower is protected by limited liability. We consider that the revenue from the project is observable and verifiable but its distribution is influenced by both the borrower’s choice of action and the project’s quality, which are private information. We find that debt contracts are endogenously optimal, as under moral hazard alone. Moreover, while moral hazard leads to credit rationing for the lowest-quality projects only, adding adverse selection creates a bang-bang result: either all projects or none are credit rationed.

The banking sectors of the transition countries have progressed remarkably in the last 15 years. In fact, banking in most transition countries has largely shaken off the traumas of the transition era. At the start of the 21st century banks in these countries look very much like banks elsewhere. That is, they are by no means problem free but they are struggling with the same issues as banks in other emerging market countries. There have been a surprisingly large number of studies that have told us about the performance of these banks but we know very little about their risk taking behaviour and how the banking environment influences it.

Factors associated with non-treatment or delayed treatment seeking in OCD sufferers: a review of the literature.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disabling disorder that can be successfully treated. However, a high percentage of sufferers neither ask for nor receive treatment for their symptoms, or they delay seeking treatment. The factors underlying the treatment-seeking behaviour of OCD patients are still not clear. This review includes 12 studies published before April 2014 that analyse the possible variables related to the delayed help-seeking behaviour of OCD patients. Studies showed that individuals who asked for help were more impaired and reported poorer quality of life. Abstract The anti-inflammatory properties of three flavanones isolated from Inula viscosa , sakuranetin, 7- O -methylaromadendrin, and 3-acetyl-7- O -methylaromadendrin, have been tested both in vitro and in vivo. Acute inflammation in vivo was induced by means of topical application of 12- O -tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA) to mouse ears or by subcutaneous injection of phospholipase A 2 (PLA 2 ) into mouse paws.
