Preparation and reactions of 1-methylpyrid-6-one-2-yl compounds of palladium(II) and platinum(II)
1984
Abstract The compounds trans -[MCl{(1-Me)C 5 H 3 (6-O)N- C 2 }(L) 2 ] (M = Pd, Pt; L = PPh 3 , PMe 2 Ph), can be prepared from the reaction of the corresponding 1-methyl-6-chloro-2-pyridylium cationic complexes, trans -[MCl{(1-Me)C 5 H 3 (6-Cl)N- C 2 }(L) 2 ]ClO 4 , with a mixture of acetic acid, ethanol, and triethylamine in the molar ratio M/MeCO 2 H/EtOH/NEt 3 of 1/3/3/4. The rate is slow compared to that of the 1-methyl-2-chloropyridinium cation under similar conditions, and is markedly affected by the steric and electronic effects of the trans -MCl(L) 2 unit. The novel 1-methylpyrid-6-one-2-yl derivatives have been characterized by conventional spectroscopic techniques and by reactions…
INSERTION OF ISOCYANIDES INTO THE PALLADIUM CARBON BOND OF C-2-PALLADATED HETEROCYCLES - SYNTHESIS OF TRANS-[PDCL(C(RN)=NR) (PPH3)2] COMPLEXES (RN = …
1985
The titles complexes trans-[PdCl{C(RN)NR}(PPh3)2] (RN = 2-pyridyl (2-py), R = p-C6H4OMe, Me; RN = 2-pyrazyl (2-pyz), R = p-C6H4OMe) can be prepared by reaction of the N-protonated compounds, cis-[PdCl2(RNH)(PPh3] (RNH = 2-pyridylium (2-pyH) or 2-pyrazylium (2-pyzH) group), with PPh3, followed by addition of the isocyanide CNR and deprotonation with triethylamine, in a molar ratio Pd/PPh3/CNR/NEt3 of 1/1/1/1.1. The reaction sequence involves the successive formation of the cationic intermediates trans-[PdCl(RNH)(PPh3)2]+, trans-[Pd(RNH)(CNR)(PPh3)2]2+ and trans-[Pd(RN)(CNR)(PPh3)2]+, which were isolated and characterized as perchlorate salts for RN = 2-pyridyl. In the final step the coordin…
Ligand substitution reactions of the [ReX6]2− (X=Cl, Br) anions. Synthesis and crystal structure of novel oxalato complexes of rhenium(IV)
2006
Abstract The reaction of K2[ReX6] (X = Cl, Br) with oxalic acid and triethylamine in dimethylformamide solution yields the substituted complexes [ReX4(ox)]2− and cis-[ReX2(ox)2]2−, which can be obtained separately depending on the amount of added amine. The crystal structures of (PPh4)2[ReBr4(ox)], cis-(PPh4)2[ReBr2(ox)2] and cis-(AsPh4)2[ReCl2(ox)2] have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The anionic complexes are octahedral with only slight distortions. The direct isolation of the pure complexes as well as the formation of only the cis isomers – without the presence of trans isomers and/or [Re(ox)3]2− – is probably due to the kinetic inertness of Re(IV)–X bonds, which in…
Grafting of (3-chloropropyl)-trimethoxy silane on halloysite nanotubes surface
2021
Modified halloysite nanotubes (HNTs-Cl) were synthesized by a coupling reaction with (3-chloropropyl) trimethoxysilane (CPTMS). The incorporation of chloro-silane onto HNTs surface creates HNTs-Cl, which has great chemical activity and is considered a good candidate as an active site that reacts with other active molecules in order to create new materials with great applications in chemical engineering and nanotechnology. The value of this work lies in the fact that improving the degree of grafting of chloro-silane onto the HNT’s surface has been accomplished by incorporation of HNTs with CPTMS under different experimental conditions. Many parameters, such as the dispersing media, the molar…
The role of the dual nature of ionic liquids in the reversed-phase liquid chromatographic separation of basic drugs.
2010
The cationic nature of basic drugs gives rise to broad asymmetrical chromatographic peaks with conventional C18 columns and hydro-organic mixtures, due to the ionic interaction of the positively charged solutes with the free silanol groups on the alkyl-bonded reversed-phase packing. Ionic liquids (ILs) have recently attracted some attention to reduce this undesirable silanol activity. ILs are dual modifiers (with a cationic and anionic character), which means that both cation and anion can be adsorbed on the stationary phase, giving rise to interesting interactions with the anionic free silanols and the cationic basic drugs. A comparative study of the performance of four imidazolium-based I…
Highly enantioselective copper(I)-catalyzed conjugate addition of 1,3-diynes to a,b-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones
2015
[EN] The conjugate diynylation of a,b-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones is carried out in the presence of a low catalytic load (2.5 mol%) of a copper(I)–MeOBIPHEP complex, triethylamine and a terminal 1,3-diyne. Pre-metalation of the terminal 1,3-diyne with stoichiometric or higher amounts of dialkylzinc reagent is not required. The corresponding internal diynes bearing a propargylic stereogenic center are obtained with good yields and excellent enantioselectivities.
Iso-valence Co(II) and mixed-valence Co(II/III) tetranuclear complexes: Synthesis, structure, magnetic properties and DFT study
2013
Abstract The reaction of Co(ClO4)2·6H2O with symmetrical N4O3 coordinating heptadentate ligand (H3L) in presence of triethylamine yielded cobalt(II) tetranuclear complexes [Co4(L)2](ClO4)2, 1. When the same reaction is carried out with sodium azide instead of triethylamine afforded tetranuclear mixed-valence Co(II/III) species, [Co4(L)2(μ1,3–N3)2](ClO4)2, 2. Here L3− is the deprotonated form of 2,6-bis[{{(1-hydroxy-2-methylpropan-2-yl)(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)}amino}methyl]-4-methylphenol. Complex 1 crystallizes in the cubic system, space group Fd-3c, with unit-cell parameters a = b = c = 43.320(5) A, Z = 48, whereas complex 2 crystallizes in the space group I41/a in the tetragonal crystal syst…
Electrochemical C−H Functionalization of (Hetero)Arenes—Optimized by DoE
2020
Abstract A novel approach towards the activation of different arenes and purines including caffeine and theophylline is presented. The simple, safe and scalable electrochemical synthesis of 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) aryl ethers was conducted using an easy electrolysis setup with boron‐doped diamond (BDD) electrodes. Good yields up to 59 % were achieved. Triethylamine was used as a base as it forms a highly conductive media with HFIP, making additional supporting electrolytes superfluous. The synthesis was optimized using Design of Experiment (DoE) techniques giving a detailed insight to the significance of the reaction parameters. The mechanism was investigated by cyclic volt…
Novel acrylamido monomers with higher hydrophilicity and improved hydrolytic stability: I. Synthetic route and product characterization.
1996
The novel acrylamido monomer reported by our group (N-acryloylaminoethoxyethanol, AAEE; Chiari et al., Electrophoresis 1994, 15, 177-186), found to combine high hydrophilicity with extraordinary resistance to alkaline hydrolysis, has come under closer scrutiny due to unexpected and random autopolymerization while stored as a 1/1 v/v water solution at 4 degrees C (possibly due to a greater oxidability of the ether group). We have additionally found a unique degradation pathway of the monomer, called "1-6 H-transfer", by which the C1 (on the double bond site), by constantly ramming against the C6, next to the ether oxygen (O7, which in fact favors the transfer of the hydrogen atom by C1), pro…
Palladium-Catalyzed Synthesis of Mono- and Diphosphorylated 1,10-Phenanthrolines
2012
A general protocol for the coupling of mono- and dihalo-1,10-phenanthrolines with diethyl phosphite is reported. This reaction proceeds smoothly in the presence of a Pd(OAc)2/dppf catalytic system and triethylamine as a base.
