Convergence of a finite volume scheme for the compressible Navier–Stokes system

We study convergence of a finite volume scheme for the compressible (barotropic) Navier–Stokes system. First we prove the energy stability and consistency of the scheme and show that the numerical solutions generate a dissipative measure-valued solution of the system. Then by the dissipative measure-valued-strong uniqueness principle, we conclude the convergence of the numerical solution to the strong solution as long as the latter exists. Numerical experiments for standard benchmark tests support our theoretical results.

Monotonic solution of heterogeneous anisotropic diffusion problems

Anisotropic problems arise in various areas of science and engineering, for example groundwater transport and petroleum reservoir simulations. The pure diffusive anisotropic time-dependent transport problem is solved on a finite number of nodes, that are selected inside and on the boundary of the given domain, along with possible internal boundaries connecting some of the nodes. General theory for cross-ply laminated beams

We present a general formulation of the elasticity theory of the cross-ply composite laminated beam subjected to various loadings such as axial load, bending moment, shear/bending, and torsion. The formulation is based on the integral equation theory, and a direct approach is employed to obtain the boundary integral equations for the analysis of the laminated beam. The integral equations governing the elasticity problem are directly deduced from the reciprocity theorem, by using the singular solutions of the orthotropic elasticity explicitly derived. The aim of this study was to determine the occurrence of tick-borne pathogens of medical importance in questing ticks collected from five recreationally used islands along the Norwegian coastline. Furthermore, since coinfection may affect the disease severity, this study aimed to determine the extent of coinfection in individual ticks or co-localization of tick-borne pathogens. In all, 4158 questing Ixodes ricinus ticks were analyzed. For detection of tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), nymphs (3690) were analyzed in pools of ten. Porous silicon photoluminescence biosensor for rapid and sensitive detection of toxins

A rapid and low cost photoluminescence (PL) immunosensor for the determination of low concentrations of Ochratoxin A(OTA) and Aflatoxine B1 (AfB1) has been developed. This biosensor was based on porous silicon (PSi) fabricated by metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) and modified by antibodies against OTA/AfB1 (anti-OTA/anti-AfB1). Biofunctionalization method of the PSi surface by anti-OTA/ anti-AfB1 was developed. The Afrotropical genus Rhinolaetia Schouteden, 1965 and its systematic position within Scutelleridae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera)

The monotypic Afrotropical genus Rhinolaetia Schouteden, 1865 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Scutelleridae) is redescribed. The head, wings, female genitalia and habitus of Rhinolaetia overlaeti Schouteden, 1965 are illustrated. Morphological features of Rhinolaetia and selected representatives of six scutellerid subfamilies are listed and compared. The systematic position of this genus is briefly discussed. Close affinity of Rhinolaetia overlaeti with representatives of subfamilies Odontotarsinae and Odontoscelinae is observed.

Nocturnal hormone profiles in patients with schizophrenia treated with olanzapine.

Summary Nocturnal hormone profiles were measured in patients with schizophrenia with predominantly negative symptoms both under drug-free baseline conditions and after subchronic administration of the atypical antipsychotic olanzapine, with the aim of characterizing its pharmacological properties on the neuroendocrine level. The following hormones were studied in the sleep laboratory under polysomnographic control: adrenocorticotrophic hormone, cortisol, growth hormone (GH), prolactin, testosterone, and melatonin. Melastomeae come full circle: biogeographic reconstruction and molecular clock dating.

Rhexia, with 11 species in the Coastal Plain province of North America, is the only temperate zone endemic of the tropical eudicot family Melastomataceae. It is a member of the only pantropical tribe of that family, Melastomeae. Based on the chloroplast gene ndhF, we use a fossil-calibrated molecular clock to address the question of the geographic origin and age of Rhexia. Sequences from 37 species in 21 genera representing the tribe's geographical range were analyzed together with five outgroups. A taxonomic revision of the Capparis spinosa group (Capparaceae) from eastern Africa to Oceania

The variability, autecology and distribution of the Capparis spinosa group have been studied in eastern Africa, Madagascar, southern Asia, Australia and Oceania. In these areas the taxonomic treatment of the group, also represented in holoarctic Regions of the Old World, is still critical. The forms widespread in the study area are here referred to four subspecies of C. spinosa . The recognized subspecies mostly show geographical vicariance, except in some contact areas of the Middle East and western Himalaya. Two nomenclatural novelties, i. e.
