Study of new joining technique: flat clinching

In this paper a development of clinching, called flat clinching, is presented. After a press clinching process, the joined sheets have been deformed by a punch with a lower diameter against a flat die. In this way a new configuration is created with a geometry that has no discontinuity on the external surface (bottom). A new procedure has also been tested: the second step is perfomed by pressing the joint between two flat dies. Abstract Processes of severe plastic deformation (SPD) are defined as metal forming processes in which a very large plastic strain is imposed on a bulk process in order to make an ultra-fine grained metal. The objective of the SPD processes for creating ultra-fine grained metal is to produce lightweight parts by using high strength metal for the safety and reliability of micro-parts and for environmental harmony. Abstract Dry and wet routes in the ceramic tile manufacturing process refer to two different technologies for preparing the raw materials for the forming stage. Both result in a granulated solid ready for use in the pressing stage, but with different characteristics. The dry route was the first to be developed. As quality standards and tile sizes increased, the wet route was developed and introduced successfully into the manufacturing process. Loop seals in circulating fluidized beds – Review and parametric studies using CPFD simulation

Abstract Loop seal is a robust particle recycling technique used in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) reactors. The rate and the location of the loop seal aeration exert a significant impact on the rate of particle circulation (GS). The standpipe balances the cumulative pressure drop across the rest of the CFB by adjusting its particle height or gas-particle slip velocity. Higher fraction of the loop seal aeration naturally flows down to riser. Increased pressure drop in the standpipe results in high rate of particle circulation. Influence of the porosity profile and sets of Ergun constants on the main hydrodynamic parameters in the trickle-bed reactors

Abstract The Eulerian multiphase code has been applied for the comparative simulation of the experimental results obtained for varying flow rates of both fluid phases and for systems of various physicochemical properties used in the laboratory trickle-bed reactor (TBR). Therefore six different radial porosity profiles and three sets of the Ergun constants used in the relations defining the interphase momentum exchange have been implemented into the CFD code. Group Buying of Competing Retailers

Under group buying, quantity discounts are offered based on the buyers' aggregated purchasing quantity, instead of individual quantities. As the price decreases with the total quantity, buyers receive lower prices than they otherwise would be able to obtain individually. Previous studies on group buying focus on the benefit buyers receive in reduced acquisition costs or enhanced bargaining power. In this paper, we show that buyers can instead get hurt from such cooperation. No evidence of ATP1A2 involvement in 12 multiplex Italian families with benign familial infantile seizures

A missense mutation in the gene encoding the alpha(2) Subunit of the Na+,K+ ATPase pump (ATP1A2) was found in a family with both familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM) and Benign Familial Infantile Seizures (BFIC). As it is still unclear whether ATP1A2 is responsible for pure BFIC syndromes, we checked mutations of the ATP1A2 gene in probands of 12 Italian multiplex families with pure BFIC, who were negative for mutations in the SCN2A gene. We screened the ATP1A2 gene by denaturing high performance liquid chromatography (D-HPLC) and direct sequencing of DNA fragments showing an aberrant elution pattern.
