Iberian Neolithic Networks: The Rise and Fall of the Cardial World
2017
Recent approaches have described the evolutionary dynamics of the first Neolithic societies as a cycle of rise and fall. Several authors, using mainly c14 dates as a demographic proxy, identified a general pattern of a boom in population coincident with the arrival of food production economies followed by a rapid decline some centuries afterwards in multiple European regions. Concerning Iberia, we also noted that this phenomenon correlates with an initial development of archaeological entities (i.e., ‘cultures’) over large areas (e.g. the Impresso-Cardial in West Mediterranean), followed by a phase of ‘cultural fragmentation’ by the end of Early Neolithic. These results in a picture of high…
Hierarchical networks of food exchange in the black garden ant Lasius niger
2020
In most eusocial insects, the division of labour results in relatively few individuals foraging for the entire colony. Thus, the survival of the colony depends on its efficiency in meeting the nutritional needs of all its members. Here, we characterise the network topology of a eusocial insect to understand the role and centrality of each caste in this network during the process of food dissemination. We constructed trophallaxis networks from 34 food-exchange experiments in black garden ants (Lasius niger). We tested the influence of brood and colony size on (i) global indices at the network level (i.e. efficiency, resilience, centralisation and modularity) and (ii) individual values (i.e. …
Density and reproductive characteristics of female brown bears in the Cantabrian Mountains, NW Spain
2018
Here we present annual nearest-neighbour distances (as a proxy of density) between females with cubs-of-the-year (hereafter FCOY) and reproductive characteristics of brown bears Ursus arctos in the Cantabrian Mountains (NW Spain), from 1989 to 2017. FCOY nearest-neighbour distances and reproduction parameters of 19 focal females followed over several consecutive years (from 2004 to 2017) were obtained from bears inhabiting the western sector of the Cantabrian Mountains, where most of the bear population resides. In contrast, general reproductive characteristics were studied in the whole Cantabrian Mountains (western and eastern sectors together) on a sample of 362 litter sizes and 695 cubs.…
Betweenness Centrality for Networks with Non-Overlapping Community Structure
2018
Evaluating the centrality of nodes in complex networks is one of the major research topics being explored due to its wide range of applications. Among the various measures that have been developed over the years, Betweenness centrality is one of the most popular. Indeed, it has proved to be efficient in many real-world situations. In this paper, we propose an extension of the Betweenness centrality designed for networks with nonoverlapping community structure. It is a linear combination of the so-called “local” and “global” Betweenness measures. The Local measure takes into account the influence of a node at the community level while the global measure depends only on the interactions betwe…

La incidencia de las malas relaciones entre los progenitores a la hora de acordar el régimen de guarda y custodia compartida. Análisis de la reciente…
2018
The relationship that the parents have with each other is one of the factors to take into consideration when adopting or not the modality of shared custody and custody after a situation of family crisis. To deny the shared modality if there was no good relationship between the parents was the rule until relatively recent dates. With the entry into force of local laws as well as the change in jurisprudence, the tendency that remains is to consider that it will no longer be enough that there is this bad relationship but will have to be a situation of high confrontation so that this situation may be grounds for denial of the shared custody regime.
Law and morals in the application of the public policy exception under the twin regulations 1103 and 1104 of 2016
2021
This paper discusses the interactions between fundamental principles of domestic legal systems and non-legal standards in the application of the public policy Generalklausel within the context of the twin Regulations 1103 and 1104 of 2016. In particular, this paper argues that public policy is composed of legal principles only and that there is no space for extra legal standards when the circulation of foreign deeds, decisions and laws is in discussion. This consideration has two consequences. Firstly, the role of good morals within contemporary private international law is extremely reduc
Anulación del privacy shield en las transferencias internacionales de datos : ¿presenciamos un desplazamiento fáctico de la responsabilidad?
2021
This study provides a comprehensive analysis of international transfers of personal data to third countries or international organizations due to new privacy regulation. More specifically, it analyzes the effects on this regulatory scheme of the annulment of the Privacy Shield in the transatlantic information movements between the European Union and the United States and how this implies, in fact, a transfer of responsibility to the controller
Getting married or entering into a partnership : the patrimonial issues of choice in french law
2021
In French law, there are only two models of couples between which a choice is really possible to organize their patrimonial relationships: partnership or marriage. But, if the couple intends to organize a transfer of assets between companions both during the union and in case of death, it is definitely marriage that offers more possibilities than partnership. Often, young French couples, who do not wish to marry, either not at the begining of their relationship or not at all, have the idea that, if marriage organizes a legal protection of the couple, the partners have the possibility to provide conventionally equivalent protection. In fact, this idea is wrong.
Protection of the surviving spouse in French law
2021
While French inheritance law has recently sought to give everyone more freedom to anticipate the transmission of their estate, it still guarantees to the children a reserved portion in his estate. This guarantees the deceased?s children a minimum share in his/her estate. However, the mechanisms protecting this reserve are subject to legal adjustments when spouses wish to organize the protection of the couple?s survivor, either by submitting to a conventional matrimonial regime or by giving themselves gifts that improve the legal succession of the spouse. This ensures a balance between the protection of the spouse and that of the compulsory heirs. Not seeming to be satisfied, several famous …
