Elucidation of the Two-Step Damage Formation Process of Latent Tracks in Poly(allyl diglycol carbonate), PADC: Role of Secondary Low-Energy Electrons
2018
The aim of the present study is to evaluate the mechanisms by which secondary electrons of low energy degrade poly(allyl diglycol carbonate) (PADC) when it is used as a Solid State Nuclear Track De...

Functionalization of Silver Nanowires Surface using Ag–C Bonds in a Sequential Reductive Method
2015
Silver nanowires (Ag-NW) assembled in interdigitated webs have shown an applicative potential as transparent and conducting electrodes. However, upon integration in practical device designs, the presence of silver oxide, which instantaneously forms on the Ag-NW surfaces in ambient conditions, is unwanted. Here, we report on the functionalization of Ag-NWs with 4-nitrophenyl moieties through A-C bonds using a versatile two step reduction process, i.e., ascorbate reduction combined electrografting. We show that 40% of the Ag atop sites were terminated and provide high surface stability toward oxidation for more than 2 months while keeping the same intrinsic conductivity as in bulk silver.
Kinetic studies of two-step polymerization of propylene over a titanium-aluminum catalyst
1997
The influence was studied of the modification of an unsupported titanium-aluminum catalytic system with an internal Lewis base incorporated, via prepolymerization, on the activity of this system in propylene polymerization. In order to clarify the reasons for the activating effect of prepolymerization, comparative studies were carried out on the kinetics of polymerization catalyzed by a titanium system and its prepolymerized counter part. Based on the kinetic model suggested for the polymerization mechanism, the concentration of active sites and rate constants were determined for chain propagation, chain transfer and termination reactions. The following conclusions were deduced: (i) the ini…
Optimization of two-step batch processes and the method of compensation for random error
2012
This paper considers the problem of the optimal setting of controllable variables in two-step processes with quality constraints. The optimal setting minimizes the cost and satisfies quality constraints defined for the final output. The main emphasis is given to processes where it is possible to make intermediate measurements after the first processing step and to utilize these measurements before the control variables in the second step are set. Optimization based on this method of compensation for random error can yield substantially lower cost than does optimization based on a strategy where all variables are fixed before the process starts. An example of application of the method is tak…
Detection of Human Papillomavirus DNA in Cervical Samples: Analysis of the New PGMY-PCR Compared To the Hybrid Capture II and MY-PCR Assays and a Two…
2004
ABSTRACT The PGMY-PCR for human papillomavirus (HPV) was evaluated, in parallel with nested PCR ( n PCR), in samples with noted Hybrid Capture II (HCII) and MY-PCR results. PGMY-PCR detected HPV DNA in 2.5% of HCII-negative-MY-PCR-negative samples and in 71.7% of HCII-positive-MY-PCR-negative samples; also, it detected the MY-PCR-negative- n PCR-negative types HPV-42, HPV-44, HPV-51, HPV-87, and HPV-89.
Dynamical Ising-like model for the two-step spin-crossover systems
2003
In order to reproduce the two-step relaxation observed experimentally in spin-crossover systems, we investigate analytically the static and the dynamic properties of a two-sublattice Ising-like Hamiltonian. The formalism is based on a stochastic master equation approach. It is solved in the mean-field approximation, and yields two coupled differential equations that correspond to the HS fractions of the sublattices A and B. Virginie.Niel@uv.es ; Jose.A.Real@uv.es
The Mechanism of Photoinhibition of Spinach Thylakoids
1990
There is conflicting evidence as to wether D1-protein is the primary target of photoinhibition [1] or P680, the reaction centre of photo-system II [2]. The present paper desribes photoinhibition within a two step process consisting of an oxygen radical induced inactivation at the QB-site followed by damage to reaction centre II through the degradation of the D1-protein.

The Di-Tert-Butyl Oxymethylphosphonate Route to the Antiviral Drug Tenofovir
2020
<div>The present manuscript describes a simple, two step synthesis of tenofovir from HPA through phosphonomethalation with a novel doubly protected oxymethylphosphonate electrophile. The crystalline electrophile can be prepared in a simple reaction sequence and can be deblocked more easily than its ditehyl analogue involved in the current commercial process for making the drug.</div><div>The approach is general and can also be used for the preparation of related antivirals and the synthesis of adefovir is described as well.<br></div>
