Study of Two-Photon Exchange via the Beam Transverse Single Spin Asymmetry in Electron-Proton Elastic Scattering at Forward Angles over a Wide Energy…

We report on a new measurement of the beam transverse single spin asymmetry in electron-proton elastic scattering, $A^{ep}_{\perp}$, at five beam energies from 315.1 MeV to 1508.4 MeV and at a scattering angle of $30^{\circ} < \theta < 40^{\circ}$. The covered $Q^2$ values are 0.032, 0.057, 0.082, 0.218, 0.613 (GeV/c)$^2$. The measurement clearly indicates significant inelastic contributions to the two-photon-exchange (TPE) amplitude in the low-$Q^2$ kinematic region. No theoretical calculation is able to reproduce our result. The Medium-Depending Fluorescence of Quadrupolar Donor-Acceptor-Donor Substituted Distyrylbenzenes with High Two-Photon Absorption Cross-Sections

ABSTRACT1,4-Distyrylbenzenes with terminal dialkylamino groups and a central 2,5-disubstitution with electron-accepting groups were prepared via twofold Horner-olefination. These chromophores with a quadrupolar donor-acceptor-donor substitution and C2-symmetry absorb in the violet to green region of the visible spectrum exhibit large two-photon-absorption cross-sections when irrdiated in the NIR. Whereas a variation of the solvent polarity only slightly alters the absorption spectra, the fluorescence appears to be highly responsive. Closed form for two-photon free–free transition matrix elements

Abstract Two-photon free–free transitions happen in the multiphoton ionization with more than one excess photon and in bremsstralung. Up to now, the configuration space free–free transition amplitudes have not been written in closed form. We propose a modified Coulomb Green’s function (CGF) Sturmian expansion which allows one to obtain expressions for two-photon radial transition matrix elements in the closed form which are easy to continue analytically to calculate free–free transitions in H.

The electron beam induced short lived absorption in PLZT optical ceramics

Abstract The short lived absorption induced by a pulsed electron beam in the led–lanthanum–zirconate–titanate (PLZT) optical ceramics was studied. The measured absorption spectrum covers 1.1–2.9 eV energy range and consists of several strongly overlapping peaks. The rise of the absorption is delayed with respect to the excitation pulse, due to charge carrier migration before trapping at centers responsible for the absorption. The formation rate of absorption centers and decay rate of absorption depend on the photon energy. The correlation of the 7.6 eV optical absorption band in pure fused silicon dioxide with twofold-coordinated silicon

Abstract The optical absorption band at 7.6 eV, which appears in oxygen deficient pure silica, does not correlate with any ESR signal in non-irradiated samples. Longlasting illumination at 80 K in the range of its absorption leads to an increase of the absorption band at 5 eV. Subsequent heating to 290 K restores the initial absorption. These data can be explained as photodissociation and thermal recreation of a complex defect containing a twofold-coordinated silicon defect. This complex defect is responsible for the 7.6 eV absorption band.

Dispersion management in two-photon microscopy by using diffractive optical elements.

We demonstrate efficient generation of wide-field fluorescence signals in two-photon microscopy exploiting diffractive optical elements and short pulses by using a dispersion-compensated beam delivery optics module. Computer-generated holograms are codified onto a phase-only spatial light modulator, which allows for arbitrary single-shot patterning of the sample. Spatiotemporal shaping of the pulse is mandatory to overcome spatial chirp and pulse-front tilt effects that spread both in space and time the irradiance patterns, thus limiting not only the spatial resolution but also the signal-to-noise ratio in two-photon microscopy. The two-photon decay of X(6900) from light-by-light scattering at the LHC

2022

The LHCb Collaboration has recently discovered a structure around 6.9 GeV in the double-$J/\psi$ mass distribution, possibly a first fully-charmed tetraquark state $X(6900)$. Based on vector-meson dominance (VMD) such a state should have a significant branching ratio for decaying into two photons. We show that the recorded LHC data for the light-by-light scattering may indeed accommodate for such a state, with a $\gamma \gamma$ branching ratio of order of $10^{-4}$, which is larger even than the value inferred by the VMD. The spin-parity assignment $0^{-+}$ is in better agreement with the VMD prediction than $0^{++}$, albeit not significantly at the current precision. Further light-by-light…
