ALMA third image of lensed quasar PKS 1830-211

Strong gravitational lensing distorts our view of sources at cosmological distances but brings invaluable constraints on the mass content of foreground objects and on the geometry and properties of the Universe. We report the detection of a third continuum source toward the strongly lensed quasar PKS 1830-211 in ALMA multi-frequency observations of high dynamic range and high angular resolution. This third source is point-like and located slightly to the north of the diagonal joining the two main lensed images, A and B, 0.3" away from image B. Long-range, high-altitude Unoccupied Aerial System (UAS) operations now enable in-situ measurements of volcanic gas chemistry at globally-significant active volcanoes. However, the extreme environments encountered within volcanic plumes present significant challenges for both air frame development and in-flight control. As part of a multi-disciplinary field deployment in May 2019, we flew fixed wing UAS Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) over Manam volcano, Papua New Guinea, to measure real-time gas concentrations within the volcanic plume. Absolute kinematics of radio source components in the complete S5 polar cap sample

We report on the first wide-field, high-precision astrometric analysis of the 13 extragalactic radio sources of the complete S5 polar cap sample at 15.4 GHz. We describe new algorithms developed to enable the use of differenced phase delays in wide-field astrometric observations and discuss the impact of using differenced phase delays on the precision of the wide-field astrometric analysis. From this global fit, we obtained estimates of the relative source positions with precisions ranging from 14 to 200 μas at 15.4 GHz, depending on the angular separation of the sources (from ∼1.6 to ∼20.8 degrees). We aim to illustrate the potentiality of the Advanced Large, Homogeneous Area, Medium-Band Redshift Astronomical (ALHAMBRA) survey to investigate the high-redshift universe through the detection of quasi stellar objects (QSOs) at redshifts higher than 5. We searched for QSOs candidates at high redshift by fitting an extensive library of spectral energy distributions – including active and non-active galaxy templates, as well as stars – to the photometric database of the ALHAMBRA survey (composed of 20 optical medium-band plus the 3 broad-band JHKs near-infrared filters). En este trabajo se reconstruye y analiza la historia del desaparecido café de España de Valencia, que fue inaugurado el primero de mayo de 1886. En su instalación y decoración intervinieron empresas, artistas y artesanos valencianos. Este espacio para la práctica de la sociabilidad pública fue único en su categoría y sobresalió por su suntuoso ambiente. De hecho, fue considerado como uno de los mejores de Europa y, según Azorín –uno de sus tertulianos–, “no lo habría tampoco en el mismo París”. Against all odds, it has a big argumentative effectiveness, since it allows the locutor to show an image of himself which is virtuous, that is a sincere, credible and, for this reason, persuasive. After all, as Aristotle states in his Rhetoric, persuasion depends on locutor’s ability to project an attractive ethos (self-image). Among the qualities that guarantees this attraction, the Stagirite includes the virtue, i.e. the speaker’s ability to tell frankly his/her opinions and ideas.
