A job-exposure matrix for research and surveillance of occupational health and safety in Spanish workers: MatEmESp

BACKGROUND: In this study we describe a general-population job-exposure matrix (MatEmESp) for Spanish workers covering the period 1996-2005. METHODS: The Finnish job-exposure matrix (FINJEM) provided the default value estimates for occupational exposure to chemical, physical and biological agents. These estimates were adapted to Spanish working conditions by local experts. Spanish surveys were used to obtain exposure estimates for ergonomic and psychosocial risk factors. Employment and socio-demographic conditions for Spanish workers were obtained from the Spanish National Statistics Institute. According to the statistics, violence against women is quite common in Finland, particularly in partner relationships and in care work. The present article looks at the similarities in the ways in which victims of occupational violence in care work and victims of intimate partner violence understand their experiences of violence. The commonalities among interpersonal relations are highlighted in order to offer new insights to the analysis of gender in research on occupational violence. Hospitalization for self-harm during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in France: A nationwide retrospective observational cohort study

ABSTRACT Background Little is known to date about the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on self-harm. Methods The number of hospitalizations for self-harm (ICD-10 codes X60-X84) in France from 1st January to 31st August 2020 (including a two-month confinement) was compared to the same periods in 2017–2019. Statistical methods comprised Poisson regression, Cox regression and Student's t-test, plus Spearman's correlation test relating to spatial analysis of hospitalizations. Abstract 2-Chloro/phenyl-7-arylimino-6,6-dimethylcyclopenta[b]pyridylnickel chlorides (Ni1–Ni8) were synthesized from the respective ligands L1–L8 and characterized. Upon activation with either methylaluminoxane (MAO) or ethylaluminium sesquichloride (EASC), they show high catalytic activity of up to 10.84 × 106 g(oligomer) mol− 1(Ni) h− 1 in ethylene oligomerization. The products range from butenes to dodecenes for Ni1–Ni4, but are limited to butenes and hexenes in the case of Ni5–Ni8. New non-thermal technologies are emerging, such as pulsed electric fields (PEF) and high hydrostatic pressure (HHP), in order to provide a response to the need for greater nutritional and sensory quality in some manufactured foods in which the characteristics of freshness are especially affected by thermal treatments.
