Alpu kreimule Pinguicula alpina L. ir rets augs, kurš šobrīd vairs nav sastopams Latvijas flora. Tā vienīgā dabīgā augtene bija uz Staburaga Daugavas krastā. Pļaviņu HES būvniecibas rezultātā tā tika iznīcināta. Latvijas Universitātes Muzeja herbārijā Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās glabājas šā auga herbāriji gan no Latvijas, gan Igaunijas. Šeit atrodas gan senākais ievāktais herbārijs uz Staburaga, gan pēdējais, kas tika šeit ievākts 1961. gadā.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) mediated by ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1 (ABCB1) is significantly hindering effective cancer chemotherapy. However, currently, no ABCB1-inhibitory drugs have been approved to treat MDR cancer clinically, mainly due to the inhibitor specificity, toxicity, and drug interactions. Resumo Este estudo avaliou a capacidade discriminante de indicadores psicológicos e comportamentais frequentemente associados ao abuso sexual infantil. A amostra foi constituída por 79 crianças, de ambos os sexos, sendo 63,3% do sexo feminino (n = 50), com idades entre oito e 12 anos (M = 9,92; DP = 1,45). Os participantes foram distribuídos em três grupos: Abuso sexual (n = 34), Maus-tratos sem histórico de abuso sexual (n = 14) e Sintomas clínicos sem histórico de maus-tratos (n = 31). The phenolic profiles of six varieties of avocado (Persea americana) grown in Sicily were investigated. The ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-heated electrospray-mass spectrometry method was developed to determine qualitative and quantitative changes in fruits at two different ripening stage. Nineteen individual phenolic compounds were detected in avocado pulp extracts. Gallic acid, sinapinic acid, vanillin, p-coumaric acid, and gentisic acid were present only in ripe fruits. Relationship between the acid and limonin content of Washington Navel orange juices

Juice samples of Washington Navel oranges from three groves were analysed for limonin, °Brix and acid during several seasons. A strong correlation between limonin and acid content has been found.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate if the supplementation with Opuntia ficus-indica (OFI) juice may affect plasma redox balance and heart rate variability (HRV) parameters following a maximal effort test, in young physically active women. Methods: A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled and crossover study comprising eight women (23.25 ± 2.95 years, 54.13 ± 9.05 kg, 157.75 ± 0.66 cm and BMI of 21.69 ± 0.66 kg/m2) was carried out.
