A review of estimating population exposure to sea-level rise and the relevance for migration

Abstract This review analyses global or near-global estimates of population exposure to sea-level rise (SLR) and related hazards, followed by critically examining subsequent estimates of population migration due to this exposure. Our review identified 33 publications that provide global or near-global estimates of population exposure to SLR and associated hazards. They fall into three main categories of exposure, based on definitions in the publications: (i) the population impacted by specified levels of SLR; (ii) the number of people living in floodplains that are subject to coastal flood events with a specific return period; and (iii) the population living in low-elevation coastal zones. …

This chapter analyzes the philosophical implications related to the “position of vulnerability” defined by the Directive 2011/36/EU on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Protecting its Victims as “a situation in which the person concerned has no real or acceptable alternative but to submit to the abuse involved” (art. 2.2). In particular, the chapter focuses on the “choice” made by migrant women employed in care and domestic work and in the agricultural sector in Italy. Background and importance Drug shortages have become a worldwide phenomenon which has repercussions on patient care and on the hospital’s budget. Aim and objectives The aim of our study was to assess the risk of shortages of drugs included in our hospital therapeutic formulary (HTF), for which there is shortage reporting, using a hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA). The purpose of our research is to show that the model of adult attachment constitute a factor of psychological vulnerability that explain women depression and its evolution on two levels: the disturbance of the emotional regulation (attachment strategies) and the insecurity of the representation of the past links of attachment (parental experiences), and the current ones (love and interpersonal attachment). Purpose To clarify if dorsal plate osteosynthesis of the forearm shaft is associated with impingement of the interosseous membrane (IOM) and if rotational kinematics of the forearm are influenced. Background Forearm fractures are treated by separate incisions. Osteosynthesis via one approach in proximal forearm fractures was associated with higher rates of synostosis.
