International audience; A new compound of thyminato anions and ethylenediamine with five-coordinate Cu(II) is synthesized. Elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV-visible) were used to characterize this compound and its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure consists of the neutral mononuclear complex [Cu(Thy)(2)(en)(H2O)]center dot 2H(2)O. The environment around Cu(II) ion exhibits a square pyramidal geometry with two nitrogen atoms of ethylenediamine and two other nitrogen atoms of the monodentate monoanions of thymine building the equatorial plane. Determination of thyreostatics in animal feed by micellar electrokinetic chromatography

The determination of the thyreostatics 2-thiouracil, its derivatives (4-methyl-2-thiouracil, 4-propyl-2-thiouracil and 4-phenyl-2-thiouracil) and methimazole in manufactured dried animal feed by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) is described. A 99 +/- 5% extraction yield at the 20 micrograms g-1 level (n = 8) was achieved by shaking the milled fodder with methanol-1 M NaOH (80 + 20). A limitation to 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) anti-cancer efficacy relies on the secretion of IL-1β by myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) according to a previous pre-clinical report. The release of mature IL-1β originates from 5 FU mediated NLRP3 activation with increased caspase-1 activity in MDSC and sustains tumor growth recovery in 5 FU treated mice. In this study, the effect of locally applied 5-FU on cell death was evaluated both in a SCC4/HEK001 model and in a newly proposed 3D outgrowth model of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The therapeutic efficacy of 5-fluorouracil (FUra) and cis-dichlorodiamine-platinum (cis-DDP) in mice bearing transplantable leukemia and solid tumors was evaluated using different sequences of combination of these agents. The optimal sequence was cis-DDP administered 24 h after FUra.
