Landscape in transition in the shadow of 2022 Russia’s invasion in Ukraine – notes from Hungary
2022
This research note focuses on two phenomena: the transformations in the landscape in Hungary as an effect of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine and the welcome/help centers that were established to channel mobility and provide a temporary safe space. I suggest that liminality (which serves as a main explanatory category) is characteristic of both. It is stated that in this context that the bodies of refugees are reminders of the existence of the (state) border, which gets reaffirmed by the process of welcoming and hosting and is also reflected in the visual reminders in the landscape. I also divide the management of the refugee crisis into three phases: spontaneous action, institutionalization, a…

Managerial understanding and attitudes towards beyond budgeting in Ukraine
2019
In order to find out how Ukrainian practitioners understand and evaluate management control innovation - beyond budgeting - this study examines their attitudes towards this concept and meanings they attach to it in the process of learning and sensemaking. Results show how the content and meaning of novel management innovation is reinterpreted and negotiated in new institutional context. Empirical evidences support the central statement of institutional theory, namely a replacement of practice's former technical functions by institutional facts, specific symbolic meanings and collective understandings. The findings reported serve to demonstrate the gradual replacement of brute facts and empi…
Hybrid practices meet nation-state language policies: Transcarpathia in the twentieth century and today
2016
AbstractFrom the early twentieth century to the present day, Transcarpathia has belonged to several states: the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy, Czechoslovakia, the Hungarian Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and finally to Ukraine. Based on the long term research by Csernicskó, and on the one-month fieldwork carried out by Laihonen in 2012, our goal is to provide an autonomous critical account and discourse analysis of the linguistic situation in Transcarpathia. We draw examples especially from the linguistic landscape, which documents the hybrid practices difficult to catch w…

Nel lavoro vengono analizzati i contribut…
