Abstract: This paper presents three brief reading notes on as many passages of the Filostrato (IV 51:1-8; IV 56, 4-8) and the Ninfale fiesolano (229, 1-5) by Giovanni Boccaccio, in the search for probable classical and medieval latin sources and models that have so far escaped the attention of scholars.

The so-called De Cavichiolo, a brief dialogic text comprising 76 elegiac couplets, centred on the exchange between a dissatisfied wife and a sodomite husband, has posed many delicate and controversial problems to those scholars who have studied this work. The principal issues, strictly correlated and interdependent, concern the chronology of the pièce (hypothesis range between the XII-XIII and XV centuries) and the relationship connecting this text to Boccaccio’s tale of Pietro di Vinciolo (Decam. Questo intervento è centrato sui temi della responsabilità e del demerito in tre epilli mitologici di Blossio Emilio Draconzio, il più importante poeta e scrittore dell’Africa vandalica fra V e VI secolo. I tre epilli (De raptu Helenae, Medea e Orestis tragoedia) hanno una caratterizzazione cupa, opprimente e pessimistica e i loro personaggi principali (Paride ed Elena, Medea e Giasone, Clitennestra, Egisto e Oreste) vengono delineati come individui colpevoli e sciagurati, responsabili di misfatti quali l’adulterio, l’uxoricidio, il matricidio e l’infanticidio. The work is concerned with examination of the principal Middle Latin epic-historical poems written between the 6th and 10th centuries, from Corippo to Rosvita of Gandersheim. It is divided into three sections, the first of which is devoted to Corippo (Iohannis and In laudem Iustini Augusti Minoris), which represents the archetypical model of Middle Latin epic-historical poetry; the second then concerns the production of the Carolingian age, through analysis and presentation of four poems (Aachener Karlsepos or Karolus et Leo, De gestis Hludowici Imperatoris by Ermoldo Nigello, De bellis Parisiacae urbis by Abbo of Saint-Germain and Annales de gestis Karoli Magni by the so-called “Saxo Poet”…
Una facezia di Poggio nell'«Epirota» di Tommaso de Mezzo

Printed in 1483, Tommaso de Mezzo’s «Epirota» belongs to the second time of the latin humanistic comedy of the Quattrocento, characterized by a strictly imitation of Plaute (and also of Terence), more strong than in the texts of the first half of the century. The first section of this paper presents Tommaso de Mezzo’s life and works, and plot, types and subjects of «Epirota». The second part of the article offers the analysis of some scenes of the comedy, in which the author clearly employs one of Bracciolini’s «Facetiae».

In this intervention the reading of the "praefatio" at the «Ystoriola Langobardorum Beneventum degentium» by Erchempert, a Lombard historian of the IXth century, is conducted. The examination allows us to observe, as a preliminary, a historian of the High Middle Ages at his “work table”, in the reference to the sources and models and, at the same time, in the clear awareness of the innovative elements that he proposes to highlight through the story of the tragic and fatal decline of the Lombard people of southern Italy. Uno dei capitoli più interessanti della favolistica mediolatina riguarda le rielaborazioni, in prosa e soprattutto in versi (generalmente in distici elegiaci, spesso leonini) delle 42 favole di Aviano, che conobbero, durante tutto il Medioevo (e oltre), una singolare e dilagante fortuna, superiore ai reali meriti del favolista tardo-antico, versificatore generalmente abbastanza scolorito, scialbo e mediocre.
