Euroopan kulttuuriperintötunnus (EHL) on keskeinen osa Euroopan unionin (EU) vahvistuvaa kulttuuri- ja identiteettipolitiikkaa.Suomi liittyi mukaan kyseiseen unionin toimeen marraskuussa 2018. EUROHER IT-tutkimushankkeen järjestämässä paneelissa keskusteltiin suomalaisen ja eurooppalaisen kulttuuriperinnön välisistä suhteista ja EHL:n Suomelle tuomista mahdollisuuksista ja haasteista. Overcoming Barriers to Transnational Organizing Through Identity Work : Finnish-Estonian Trade Union Cooperation

This article analyses a project by Finnish and Estonian unions to adopt ‘organizing model’ strategies through establishing the transnational ‘Baltic Organising Academy’. Initially aimed at Estonian workplaces, successful campaigns inspired Finnish unions to copy the model in Finland. This cooperation was originally motivated by labour market interdependence between the two countries, and the failure of past social-partnership oriented union strategies in Estonia. Identity politics of the promotional videos of the European Heritage Label

During past decades, the EU has responded to a variety of ‘crises’ by promoting a common cultural heritage to advance European identity and belonging. This article analyses identity politics conducted in the framework of the EU’s flagship heritage action, the European Heritage Label. I borrow from ‘banal nationalism’ to scrutinise the usage of ‘we’ and ‘us’ in the promotional videos of the European Heritage Label sites as subject positions offered for identification in this heritage discourse. Analysis shows that the subject positions are constituted by an emphasis on the national level, preservation of the past for future generations and the key role of experts in the process of heritage. …

Tulevina vuosina EU:n väestö alkaa ikääntyä, ja tällä tulee olemaan suuria vaikutuksia EU:n talouteen. Työikäisten osuus väestöstä alkaa laskea vuodesta 2010 alkaen. As part of the ANTHROPO-MTV research project (ANR SEST program), we focused on common sense thinking about vector-borne diseases, using the example of chikungunya, through an interdisciplinary quantitative survey carried out at Meeting. Here we present the results from the psychosocial component. The survey was conducted by questionnaire in November 2007 among 415 households. It was preceded by interviews with inhabitants of the island and with various institutional and health professionals. Sub-milliarcsecond imaging of a bright flare and ejection event in the extragalactic jet 3C 111

Context. Flares in radio-loud active galactic nuclei are thought to be associated with the injection of fresh plasma into the compact jet base. Such flares are usually strongest and appear earlier at shorter radio wavelengths. Hence, very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) at millimeter(mm)-wavelengths is the best-suited technique for studying the earliest structural changes of compact jets associated with emission flares.
