Hla-Bb,Dr3 Phenotype and the Antibody Response Against Epstein-Barr Virus

Antibodies against the viral capsid antigen (VCA) and nuclear antigens (EBNAs) of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) were determined in a sample of Sicilian population. A significant correlation was observed between HLA-BB,DR3 phenotype and reduced titres of antibodies to EBNAs, whereas HLA-BB,DR3 positive individuals displayed levels of antibodies to VCA comparable to those of HLA-BB,DR3 negative ones. These results further strenghten the suggestion that HLA-BB,DR3 positive subjects are low responders and that the depth of immune response depends on on the fashion of antigenic challenge.

Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is a chronic, inflammatory disorder of unknown cause, almost exclusively occurring in people aged over 50 and often associated with giant cell arteritis. The evidence that PMR occurs almost exclusively in individuals aged over 50 may indicate that age-related immune alterations in genetically predisposed subjects contribute to development of the disease. Several infectious agents have been investigated as possible triggers of PMR even though the results are inconclusive. Abstract Inhibitors of Apoptosis (IAPs) are a family of proteins with various biological functions including regulation of innate immunity and inflammation, cell proliferation, cell migration and apoptosis. They are characterized by the presence of at least one N-terminal baculoviral IAP repeat (BIR) domain involved in protein-protein interaction. Most of them also contain a C-terminal RING domain conferring an E3-ubiquitin ligase activity. In drosophila, IAPs are essential to ensure cell survival, preventing the uncontrolled activation of the apoptotic protease caspases. Tässä tutkielmassa selvitettiin, mikä on yhteisöllisyyden asema musiikintunneilla ja kuinka yhteisöllisyyttä voisi tukea musiikintunneilla. Yhteisöllisyydestä keskustellaan paljon, mutta se on käsitteenä epäselvä, moniselitteinen ja abstrakti. Yhteisöllisyyden on tutkittu vaikuttavan terveyteen ja eliniän pituuteen. Tutkielman tutkimusmenetelmänä olen käyttänyt avointa teemahaastattelua, jonka kysymykset on laadittu tässä tutkielmassa käytettyjen yhteisöllisyyden kriteerien pohjalta. Phylogenetic diversity and affiliation of tropical African ectomycorrhizal fungi

Ectomycorrhizal fungi form a mutualistic symbiosis with plant roots, and are key for nutrient cycling in many ecosystems. Here we study the ectomycorrhizal fungal communities in the Oueme Superieur reserve forest in Benin (West Africa). We use phylogenetic methods to test if the species from the study site are closer to other tropical African species than to species from other regions. The Oueme Superieur community was represented by nine Operational Taxonomic Units in Amanitaceae, one in Boletaceae, one in Cantharellaceae, one in Cortinariaceae, two in Inocybaceae, fourteen in Russulaceae and three in Sclerodermataceae. W artykule przedstawię dwie funkcjonujące dzisiaj obok siebie diagnozy polskiej współczesności. Jedna to separatystyczna, podkreślająca rozłam, bez nadziei na zgodę wizja dwóch odmiennych, zwaśnionych plemion, różniących się stosunkiem do przeszłości i historii. Historia i pamięć są tutaj kryterium podziału. Druga wizja zakłada możliwość porozumienia się, wskazując na relacyjny, oparty na potrzebie uznania charakter obecnego konfliktu. Pamięć nie jest tutaj narzędziem podziału, ale dobrem i wartością wspólną, a szansą na porozumienie się są relacje uznania.

In the article, I present two currently co-functioning diagnoses of Polish modernity. One is separatist, emphasizing the division, without hope of consent – a vision of two conflicted tribes, differing in their attitude to the past and history. The second vision assumes the possibility of communication, pointing to the relational character of the current conflict, which is based on the need for recognition. Remembrance is not a dividing instrument here, but a common good and value, and the chance for communication is the relationship of recognition.
