Models for the development of generic skills in Finnish higher education

This article examines how Finnish universities and other higher education institutes have responded to the challenges posed by rapid changes in the world of work and societies all over Europe, particularly with reference to the development of generic skills. The data were collected by means of individual and group interviews at three Finnish higher education institutes, including two universities and one university of applied sciences. The interviews involved 63 persons in charge of management, development and teaching at these institutes. This research is based on an analytical model designed to evaluate the institutional conditions that affect the development of teaching in Ibero-America. The case studies correspond to six universities in: Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Venezuela 2. Were identified the common challenges and the differentiated needs faced by the development, with quality, of university teaching. MathCheck is a relatively new online tool that gives students feedback on their solutions to elementary university mathematics and theoretical computer science exercises. MathCheck was designed with constructivism learning theory in mind and it differs from other online tools as it checks the solutions step by step and shows a counter-example if the step is incorrect. [EN] Introduction: Framed within an educational innovation project in the nursing degree, we introduce the application of realistic scenarios, generated through the EDISON tool to deal with topics such as pediatric and neonatal CPR. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an adaptation of the project to the telematic modality was proposed. Methodology: Analytical exploratory study where the effectiveness of a training intervention in a confinement context was evaluated. [EN] Multimedia material supports both teachers and students in the teaching-learning process, obtaining satisfactory results. The current educational system uses a mechanical and rigid mechanism in which teaching is fragmented and disconnected by subjects. Our work aims to report a new academic proposal where a new integrative multimedia material is developed about membrane transport between different subjects and degrees in the Health Area. The results were very satisfactory because the students' opinion about the video was very positive and well-rated. This work clarified the need for a change in the educational system.

[EN] Our general objective consists in using gamification as a teaching tool in order to get a higher level of students’ involvement in the tutorials, as well as, increasing the motivation to learn Pathophysiology in the Pharmacy Degree. Not all the students groups are uniform, and also the teachers have nonconscious prejudices for each group. Hence, every student group has its own idiosyncrasy.
