Manifestation of Diabetes Mellitus Type 1: A Questionnaire to Evaluate the Acceptance of Initial Intravenous Therapy

2014

For families suddenly confronted with the diagnosis of a lifelong chronic disease, implementing a continuous iv. infusion represents restriction of movement and possibly also a psychological burden. We designed a questionnaire to evaluate the perception of pediatric patients and their parents for this treatment as part of a diabetes manifestation. Patients and their parents treated in the diabetes outpatient clinic at children’s university hospital in Mainz were asked for their opinion about “iv. infusion” and “frequency of blood taking” during their first stay in the hospital upon manifestation of diabetes. They assigned scores from 1 to 10 for the following parameters: “delivery of diagno…

PEER-TUTORING AT THE UNIVERSITY. ANALYSIS OF A SINGLE CASE STUDY

2021

The paper focus on the theme of peer learning with reference to the university context. Peer tutoring is an educational strategy that aims to activate mutual support between peers to promote an authentic and co-participated learning experience. In doing this it is necessary that the relationship is positive and that the "power" between the people involved is balanced; in other words, that participation is spontaneous [1]. Orientation and tutoring are now a reality for Italian and international universities [2],[3]. If initially said activity was intended to guide and inform incoming students, later the offer was extended to the entire university career and for heterogeneous needs [4],[5],[6…

2007

Objective: To compare the quality of two pharmaceutical care models (with and without pharmacist participation in the clinical team), in hospitalised onco-haematological patients. Method: A prospective cohort study in the oncology and haematology departments of a university hospital over a 26-month period. A centralised model (model C) was used over 16 months and a decentralised integration model (model D) was used during the remaining 10 months. The Iaser© methodology was used to identify candidates for improved drug treatment and for the follow up of patients with drug-related problems (DRP). The results obtained were compared using a series of pharmaceutical care quality indicators. Resu…

Network Analysis of Well-Being Dimensions in Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Samples of University Students from Poland during the Fourth Wave of the COV…

2022

Although numerous studies investigated the predictors of vaccination intention and decision, little is known about the relationship between vaccination and well-being. This study compares the physical and mental health dimensions among vaccinated and unvaccinated people. In a cross-sectional online survey, 706 university students from Poland (mean age of 23 years, 76% of women) participated in this study during the fourth pandemic wave (November–December 2021). Standardized questionnaires with a Likert response scale were included in the survey to measure spirituality, exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic, perceived physical health, stress, coronavirus-related PTSD, fear of COVID-19, anxiety, …

Effects of emergency remote instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic on university physics students in Italy

2021

We surveyed a convenience sample of 362 Italian university physics students, asking them to retrospectively assess their experience of emergency remote instruction due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We looked at their psychological well being, motivation for physics, academic orientation, attitude towards physics and physicists, and tried to link these factors to their overall perception of the online instruction. Our results show a general appreciation for the organization and effectiveness of online courses. However, online teaching negatively impacted on engagement and interaction between peers and with the instructors. Only 22% of students in our sample complained of the psychological distre…

THE “ENTREPRENEURIAL UNIVERSITY”: A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN MANAGERIAL AND ORGANISATIONAL FEATURES TOWARDS THE DESIGN OF PLANNING & CONTROL …

2013

In the last decade, European academic institutions have been affected by significant reforms aimed to improve their own performance levels. The reason for these reforms has been inspired by various factors, such as budgetary restrictions imposed by National Governments and the “marketisation” of the Higher Education sector. This has led European universities to increase their autonomy and accountability to successfully perform and compete in a worldwide competitive system. Both autonomy and accountability have involved a greater emphasis on performance management and Planning & Control (P&C) systems. In the light of the new institutional and competitive context, the aim of this paper is to …
