L'Aurignacien en Bourgogne méridionale
2010

"Save the Night" : light footprint, urbanism and territorial governance
2010
Our society maintains a complex relation with night, space-time often outside the diurnal cadences which facilitates the reflection, the imagination, the creation, the listening and the link with the other one, while revealing the segregation, the fear, and thus the restriction. By this research, we put compared to the urban lighting – real light project carrier of a strong symbolism – the socio-cultural, ecological and sanitary costs engendered by the artificial light. The urban lighting generates a geographical interlacing of bright imprints of differentiated scales, which we approach by various modellings, without forbidding us the sensitive analysis. We clarify, at various scales, the g…

The Uses of Analogies in 17th and 18th Century Science
2011
International audience; The object of this research is to look at the extent and nature of the uses of analogy during the first century following the so-called scientific revolution. Using the research tool provided by JSTOR we systematically analyze the uses of “analog” and its cognates (analogies, analogous, etc) in the hilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London(PT) for the period 1665-1780. In addition to giving the possibility of evaluating quantitatively the proportion of papers explicitly using analogies, this approach makes it possible to go beyond the maybe idiosyncratic cases of Descartes, Kepler or Galileo and other much studied giants of the so-called Scientific Rev…
L’ordinaire de la littérature. Des bénéfices pragmatistes dans les études littéraires
2008
International audience; This paper tries to examine why pragmatism, though often evoked and used in numerous academic fields, has had very little influence on French literary studies. To explain such a fact, the authors lay emphasis on the way the concept of literature was coined from romantic and structuralist elements in the French context. Doing so, they also suggest a few insights about what pragmatism could bring to literary studies and criticism, especially concerning the uses of literature, and its cognitive powers.; En dépit du reflux du structuralisme, la littérature continue d’être appréhendée à travers un prisme théorique d’obédience post-romantique, qui occulte son interaction a…
Adenovirus E1A/E1B Transformed Amniotic Fluid Cells Support Human Cytomegalovirus Replication.
2015
The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) replicates to high titers in primary human fibroblast cell cultures. A variety of primary human cells and some tumor-derived cell lines do also support permissive HCMV replication, yet at low levels. Cell lines established by transfection of the transforming functions of adenoviruses have been notoriously resistant to HCMV replication and progeny production. Here, we provide first-time evidence that a permanent cell line immortalized by adenovirus type 5 E1A and E1B (CAP) is supporting the full HCMV replication cycle and is releasing infectious progeny. The CAP cell line had previously been established from amniotic fluid cells which were likely derived from…
