Identification of two novel polymorphisms and a rare deletion variant in the human dopamine D4 receptor gene

We report two novel polymorphisms and a rare deletion variant in the human dopaine D4 receptor gene. The two polymorphisms are characterized by single base pair substitutions, namely a G-->C transversion changing codon 11 from GGG (encoding Gly) to CGG (encoding Arg) and a C-->T transition in position -11 upstream from the start codon. The Arg11 variant occurs at a frequency of about 1% and the C-->T transition at a frequency of about 7% in German control subjects (n = 148). Allele frequencies observed in patients suffering from schizophrenia (n = 256) and bipolar affective disorder (n = 99) were similar. AbstractObjective: A Psychotherapy Process Q-set (PQS) prototype characteristic of short-term psychodynamic therapy (STPP) does not yet exist. Method: Experts in supportive-expressive (SE) therapy used the 100-Item PQS questionnaire to rate an ideal short-term SE therapy. Results: Agreement between raters was high (Cronbach's alpha = 0.94). The prototype for SE therapy showed a significant correlation with the psychoanalytic prototype, but with 28% of variance explained, the majority of variance of the former was not explained by the latter or vice versa. PURPOSE Currently there is little information available about the corneal thickness values of healthy emmetropic subjects. Therefore, the authors decided to analyze the corneal thickness in healthy emmetropic subjects. METHODS The authors analyzed the difference in thickness values between the thinnest corneal site and the central and paracentral cornea in 124 eyes of 124 healthy emmetropic white subjects. Objective: Patients with anorexia or bulimia nervosa are reported to show high levels of alexithymia and to have difficulties recognizing facially displayed emotions. This paper is concerned with the use of digital fundus imaging to detect, quantify, and follow up macular angiographic leakage due to retinal vein occlusions. Images were matched automatically. We detected those pixels with a high increment in gray level within the closest area to the foveal center. Binary images displaying leakage were obtained. The procedure was checked against two observers' agreement. Twenty-one angiographic studies were collected. Two images of each sequence were selected for digitalization.
