Gas-liquid chromatography and lipophilicity of esters of benzoic acids

Abstract The use of gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) retention indices for the determination of lipophilicity was studied for a series of alkyl and arylalkyl esters of substituted benzoic acids. The regression relationships between the logarithms of the partition coefficients and the retention characteristics measured on two cpillary columns, SE-30 and OV-351, were evaluated. The behaviour of arylalkyl esters and of alkyl esters cannot be expressed in terms of a single regression equation. This is probably a consequence of the effect of the intramolecular hydrophobic interaction upon the retention of arylalkyl esters under GLC conditions. Gas chromatography of homologous esters

Abstract The gas chromatographic retention behaviour of the butanoyl and 2-, 3- and 4-chlorobutanoyl esters of C 3 —C 5 saturated aliphatic branched-chain and unsaturated C 3 —C 6 alcohols on SE-30 and OV-351 glass capillary columns operated iso-thermally at several temperatures is reported. Retention index increments at 80, 120 and 160°C show the effects of chain branching and the olefinic and acetylenic unsaturation in the alkyl chain and the effect of the position of the chlorine substituent in the acyl chain. The results are compared with the behaviour of the corresponding n -alkyl esters and the chlorinated propanoyl esters.

Abstract Gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric identification of urea derivatives formed by the reaction of amines with isocyanates N,N′-Di- and N,N′,N′-trisubstituted ureas constitute suitable derivatives for the gas chromatographic (GC) determination of primary and secondary amines. The GC identification of N- tert. -butyl-,N′,N′-alkyl urea derivatives presented in the first communication has been succesfully confirmed by mass spectrometry (MS) and mass fragmentometry. Gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric characterization of the organic acids extracted from some preparations containing lyophilized royal jelly.

Thirty-five aliphatic acids were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry from the ether extract of commercial preparations containing lyophilized royal jelly. The article presents linear-programmed retention indices on capillary columns with non-polar and low-polar stationary phases and mass spectra for identified compounds which were not characterized earlier by these parameters. Nine compounds are reported for the first time as royal jelly constituents.

Uvođenje novih tehnologija i upravljanje informacijama neprestano pružaju priliku za diferencijaciju unutar uslužnog sektora, a posebice u hotelijerstvu. Napredak informacijsko komunikacijske tehnologije (ICT) dao je pozitivan doprinos ugostiteljstvu. Oblikovanje usluga i jačanje lojalnosti klijenata uvelike ovise o dostupnosti podataka o njima. Stoga je svrha ovog istraživanja ispitati primjenu novih tehnologija i upravljanja podacima u hotelijerstvu iz perspektive menadžera i korisnika usluga. Cilj rada je utvrditi postoje li razlike u njihovoj uporabi i percepciji između visokokategoriziranih hotela u Italiji i Hrvatskoj.

Presentamos en este trabajo nuestra experiencia acumulada en el tratamiento quirúrgico del neumotórax espontáneo primario mediante cirugía videotoracoscópica. Se ha elegido el neumotórax por tratarse de la patología benigna que, además de frecuente, ha sido la primera en beneficiarse de la VATS. Durante un periodo de dieciséis años (entre junio de 1994 y febrero de 2010) se realizaron 238 intervenciones por neumotórax espontáneo primario mediante VATS en 216 pacientes; en 115 procedimientos se escogió la abrasión pleural como método de pleurodesis, mientras que en 123 casos se llevó a cabo una técnica mixta consistente en pleurectomía apical combinada con abrasión del resto de la pleura par…

The aim of the present dissertation was to examine the acute and chronic effects of resistance exercise on inflammation markers in young men. In addition, the effect of combined resistance and endurance training on inflammation was assessed. The present dissertation consisted of four studies. Uniportal bilateral video-assisted sequential thoracoscopic extended thymectomy

Standard video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has been reported as a minimally invasive approach alternative to sternotomy for management of myasthenia gravis (MG) associated with thymoma or thymic hyperplasia. Uniportal video-thoracoscopy is an evolution of standard multi-portal video-thoracoscopy for management of several thoracic diseases but its role for resecting mediastinal tumor remains under-evaluated. Herein, we describe our experience with bilateral uniportal thoracoscopic sequential extended thymectomy with case and video illustrations.
