Search for chargino-neutralino production using recursive jigsaw reconstruction in final states with two or three charged leptons in proton-proton co…
2018
A search for electroweak production of supersymmetric particles is performed in two-lepton and three-lepton final states using recursive jigsaw reconstruction, a technique that assigns reconstructed objects to the most probable hemispheres of the decay trees, allowing one to construct tailored kinematic variables to separate the signal and background. The search uses data collected in 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment in s=13 TeV proton-proton collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb-1. Chargino-neutralino pair production, with decays via W/Z bosons, is studied in final states involving leptons and jets and missing transverse mome…
Review of single vector boson production in pp collisions at $$\sqrt{s} = 7$$ s = 7 TeV
2014
This review summarises the main results on the production of single vector bosons in the Standard Model, both inclusively and in association with light- and heavy-flavour jets, at the Large Hadron Collider in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $$7\,{\mathrm {\ TeV}}$$ . The general purpose detectors at this collider, ATLAS and CMS, each recorded an integrated luminosity of $${\approx } 40\,\mathrm{pb^{-1}}$$ and $$5\,\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$$ in the years 2010 and 2011, respectively. The corresponding data offer the unique possibility to precisely study the properties of the production of heavy vector bosons in a new energy regime. The accurate understanding of the Standard Mod…
Search for a Heavy Particle Decaying into an Electron and a Muon with the ATLAS Detector ins=7 TeVppcollisions at the LHC
2011
This Letter presents the first search for a heavy particle decaying into an e(+/-)mu(-/+) final state in root s = 7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC. The data were recorded by the ATLAS detector during 2010 and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1). No excess above the standard model background expectation is observed. Exclusions at 95% confidence level are placed on two representative models. In an R-parity violating supersymmetric model, tau sneutrinos with a mass below 0.75 TeV are excluded, assuming all R-parity violating couplings are zero except lambda(311)' = 0.11 and lambda(312) = 0.07. In a lepton flavor violating model, a Z'-like vector boson with masses of 0.70-1.0…
Search for a Heavy Neutral Particle Decaying toeμ,eτ, orμτinppCollisions ats=8 TeVwith the ATLAS Detector
2015
This Letter presents a search for a heavy neutral particle decaying into an opposite-sign different-flavor dilepton pair, e(+/-) mu(-/+), e(+/-) tau(-/+), or mu(+/-) tau(-/+) using 20.3 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 8 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The numbers of observed candidate events are compatible with the standard model expectations. Limits are set on the cross section of new phenomena in two scenarios: the production of (nu) over tilde (tau) in R-parity-violating supersymmetric models and the production of a lepton-flavor-violating Z' vector boson.

Vector form factor of the pion in chiral effective field theory
2015
The vector form factor of the pion is calculated in the framework of chiral effective field theory with vector mesons included as dynamical degrees of freedom. To construct an effective field theory with a consistent power counting, the complex-mass scheme is applied.
Measurement of Z/γ∗+jet+X angular distributions in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2010
We present the first measurements at a hadron collider of differential cross sections for Z+jet+X production in delta phi(Z, jet), |delta y(Z, jet)| and |y_boost(Z, jet)|. Vector boson production in association with jets is an excellent probe of QCD and constitutes the main background to many small cross section processes, such as associated Higgs production. These measurements are crucial tests of the predictions of perturbative QCD and current event generators, which have varied success in describing the data. Using these measurements as inputs in tuning event generators will increase the experimental sensitivity to rare signals.
Measurements of inclusive vector boson production from ATLAS
2015
The production of the W and Z bosons is the standard candle process at the LHC. Measurement of the transverse momentum of the Z boson performed by the ATLAS collaboration is reported for sqrt{s} = 7 TeV. The measurement is sensitive to soft resummation effects for small momentum transfers and to multiple hard jet emissions for large momentum transfers, probing QCD in a unique way. Measurements of the Drell-Yan production at low and high invariant masses are reported and compared to predictions based on NNLO QCD corrected for electroweak effects. A measurement of the lepton forward-backward asymmetry for Z/gamma* production is used to determine the weak mixing angle. A measurement of the cr…
A Closer Study of the Framed Standard Model Yielding Testable New Physics plus a Hidden Sector with Dark Matter Candidates
2018
This closer study of the FSM: [I] retains the earlier results in offering explanation for the existence of three fermion generations, as well as the hierarchical mass and mixing patterns of leptons and quarks; [II] predicts a vector boson $G$ with mass of order TeV which mixes with $\gamma$ and $Z$ of the standard model. The subsequent deviations from the standard mixing scheme are calculable in terms of the $G$ mass. While these deviations for (i) $m_Z - m_W$, (ii) $\Gamma(Z \rightarrow \ell^+ \ell^-)$, and (iii) $\Gamma(Z \rightarrow {\rm hadrons})$ are all within present experimental errors so long as $m_G > 1$ TeV, they should soon be detectable if the $G$ mass is not too much bigger; […
Measurement of the tt¯Z and tt¯W cross sections in proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
2019
A measurement of the associated production of a top-quark pair (tt) with a vector boson (W, Z) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is presented, using 36.1 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events are selected in channels with two same- or opposite-sign leptons (electrons or muons), three leptons or four leptons, and each channel is further divided into multiple regions to maximize the sensitivity of the measurement. The ttZ and ttW production cross sections are simultaneously measured using a combined fit to all regions. The best-fit values of the production cross sections are σttZ=0.95±0.08stat±0.10syst…
