Turning Heads on the Dance Floor: Synchrony and Social Interaction Using a Silent Disco Paradigm
2023
Music and dance appear to have a social bonding effect, which some have theorized is part of their ultimate evolutionary function. Prior research has also found a social bonding effect of synchronized movement, and it is possible that interpersonal synchrony could be considered the “active ingredient” in the social bonding consequences of music or dance activity. The present study aimed to separate the effects of synchrony from other factors associated with joint experience of dancing by using a “silent disco” manipulation, in which the timing of a musical stimulus was varied within a dyad in a freestyle dance setting. Three conditions were included: synchrony, tempo-shifted (in which the …
Exploring relations between Big Five personality traits and musical emotions embodied in spontaneous dance
2022
We explored the hypothesis that musical emotions are embodied differentially by people according to their personality. Nine hundred and fifty two individuals completed the Big Five personality inventory. A subset of 60 participants were asked to spontaneously move to 30 short musical stimuli while being recorded with a motion-capture system. The musical stimuli were separately rated for perceived emotions. Embodied musical emotions were evaluated as the correlation between features derived from the motion-capture data and the mean ratings of perceived emotions. Correlations between embodied musical emotions and personality traits provided tentative support for our hypothesis. A series of l…
The role of temperament in children's affective and behavioral responses in achievement situations
2013
Abstract Although students' affects and behaviors in achievement situations have been shown to be influenced by their previous learning experiences, less is known about how they relate to students' dispositional characteristics, such as temperament. This study examined to what extent children's temperament is related to their affective and behavioral responses in achievement situations. Teachers rated first-graders' ( n = 153) temperamental characteristics in the Fall semester. Children's active task avoidance, anxiety, and helplessness were rated in test situations in the Fall and Spring semesters. The results showed that the more easily distracted the children were, the more task avoidan…

Tavoiteorientaatiot kertovat tarkempaa tietoa motivaation laa…

Osallistuminen teknologian suunnitteluun tarjoaa lapsille arvokkaita kokemuksia.
Longitudinal and cross-sectional associations of adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines with cardiometabolic risk
2022
This study aimed to examine 1) adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines over a 2-year follow-up in children aged 6-8 years and 2) association of this adherence with cardiometabolic risk factors. Physical activity and sleep were assessed by a monitor combining heart rate and accelerometry measurements. Screen time was reported by the parents. Body fat percentage, waist circumference, blood glucose, serum insulin, plasma lipids and blood pressure were assessed, and a cardiometabolic risk score was calculated using z-scores. Children were classified as meeting the guidelines if they had on average ≥60min/day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity during the valid days; ≤120min/day of screen…

Posługa muzyka kościelnego w świetle Musikalisch-liturgisches Wörterbuch Bernharda Kothego (1821–1897)
2021
In the tradition of the Catholic Church, music is an indispensable and integral part of its solemn liturgy. This statement is a reminder of a centuries-old belief in the unity of these two realities. Over the centuries, various causes have resulted in periods of better or worse condition of liturgical music. The second half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century were considered a time of crisis. It manifested itself primarily in the low level of education and carelessness of church musicians, as well as the lack of appropriate musical literature and drawing on secular models. In response to these phenomena, the Allgemeiner Cäcilienverein society was founded in 1868. This …
