Outpatient endovascular aortic aneurysm repair: Experience in 100 consecutive patients

2013

OBJECTIVES:: To present the safety, feasibility, costs, and patient satisfaction of outpatient endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). BACKGROUND:: Our experience in more than 1000 patients indicated that in technically uncomplicated EVAR procedures, the only need for hospitalization was for access vessel complications (bleeding or occlusion) requiring secondary procedures. These complications could always be identified within the first 3 hours after EVAR. METHODS:: Two-center retrospective analysis of prospectively gathered data on 100 consecutive elective outpatient EVAR cases (Outpt EVAR). Inclusion criteria for Outpt EVAR were as follows: asymptomatic clinical state, informed consent, trav…

Angiographic Evaluation of Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction in Patients with Heart Failure and Preserved Ejection Fraction

2015

Background The aim of this study was to evaluate myocardial perfusion and coronary blood flow through validated angiography indices to assess whether there is greater MVD in patients with microvascular angina and HFPEF compared to those who do not have. Methods Our study was performed on a population of 286 patients with stable angina that underwent coronary angiography and echocardiography. They showed epicardial coronary arteries free from stenosis. We divided the sample into two categories: patients with HFPEF and those without. We calculated indices for each patient based on angiographic images, including TFC, MBG, and TMBS. Results Our sample compared two groups: HFPEF (n = 155) and no…

Endograft connector technique to treat popliteal artery aneurysm in a morbid obese patient.

2015

Surgical repair of popliteal artery aneurysm in morbid obese patients poses additional challenges. We report a morbid obese patient who had a 59 mm right popliteal artery aneurysm which was successfully treated with the endograft connector technique. This technique was used to perform the distal anastomosis of the below-knee femoro-popliteal bypass. A 10 mm Dacron graft was used as a main graft bypass and an 11 mm/10 cm stentgraft as endograft connector. Following the respective tunnel of the Dacron graft, an end-to-side proximal anastomosis was performed at distal femoral artery. The aneurysm exclusion was obtained through a proximal and a distal ligation. Postoperative duplex showed adeq…

Anomalous origin of all three coronary arteries from right sinus of Valsalva

2016

AbstractCongenital anomalies of the coronary arteries, although uncommon, have the potential to cause serious myocardial damage, ischemic cardiomyopathy, and sudden cardiac death. We report a rare case of origin of all three coronaries from the right sinus of Valsalva.

A wire-loop technique for implantation of an iliac branched device in a patient with previous surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm

2013

We described a modified technique for implanting a bridging stent-graft into an iliac branched device. A 79-year-old male who had received aortobiiliac synthetic graft surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm six months earlier was admitted to our unit for treatment of a left common iliac aneurysm involving the origin of the hypogastric artery. A standard technique was unsuccessful at implanting the bridging stent-graft, and therefore a wire-loop guidewire over the graft bifurcation was used to stabilize the contralateral sheaths and to complete the implantation. © Turkish Society of Radiology 2012.

Endovascular treatment options for complex abdominal aortic aneurysms

2015

Abstract Purpose To report short-term and midterm outcomes of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) of complex aneurysms requiring revascularization of visceral arteries. Materials and Methods Prospective data were collected from patients deemed unsuitable for conventional EVAR and conventional surgery who were treated with different endovascular approaches according to the clinical presentation of the aneurysm. Custom-made fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair (CM f-EVAR) was used in the elective setting, homemade fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair (HM f-EVAR) or HM f-EVAR combined with chimney endovascular aneurysm repair (ch-EVAR) was used in the emergent setting in patients with …

INTERACTIONS OF ISOPRENALINE AND PROSTAGLANDIN E2 WITH RESPECT TO MYOCARDIAL CONTRACTILE FORCE, CORONARY VASCULAR RESISTANCE AND MYOCARDIAL OXYGEN CO…

1976

Left ventricular pressure (LVP), left ventricular pressure derivative (LV dp/dtmax), coronary vascular resistance (CVR) and myocardial oxygen consumption (Qo2) were measured simultaneously in isolated, electrically driven hearts of guinea-pigs at constant perfusion rate. 2 LVP, LV dp/dtmax, CVR and Qo2 were greatly decreased by either the addition of prostaglandin E2 (50 ng/ml) to the perfusion fluid or pretreatment of the animals with reserpine. 3 Isoprenaline (0.5 nM to 100 nM) induced increases in LVP, LV dp/dtmax and Qo2. In the presence of prostaglandin E2, there was a parallel shift of the isoprenaline concentration-response curve for LVP and LV dp/dtmax. This effect was not seen, aft…

Experimental diabetes induces hyperreactivity of rabbit renal artery to 5-hydroxytryptamine.

2002

Abstract The influence of diabetes on the response of isolated rabbit renal arteries to 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) was examined. 5-HT induced a concentration-related contraction that was higher in arteries from diabetic rabbits than in arteries from control rabbits. Endothelium removal did not significantly modify 5-HT contractions in arteries from control rabbits but enhanced the response to 5-HT in arteries from diabetic rabbits. Incubation with N G -nitro- l -arginine ( l -NA) enhanced contractions to 5-HT in arteries from control and diabetic rabbits. In arteries with endothelium, this l -NA enhancement was lower in diabetic rabbits than in control rabbits. In arteries without endotheli…

Hepatitis C Virus Infection Is Associated With Increased Cardiovascular Mortality: A Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies

2015

There have been many studies of the effects of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection on cardiovascular risk, but these have produced ambiguous results. We performed a meta-analysis of these studies to systematically assess the risk of HCV infection on cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related morbidity and mortality. We searched PubMed Central, Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library, as well as reference lists of articles, for studies published through July 2015 that compared the occurrence of CVD between HCV-infected and HCV-uninfected subjects, or assessed the prevalence of HCV infection among subjects with CVDs. In total, 22 studies were analyzed. Data on the patient populations and outcomes were e…

Three-Dimensional Analysis of Component Stability of the Nellix Endovascular Aneurysm Sealing System After Treatment of Infrarenal Abdominal Aortic A…

2016

Purpose: To assess short-term stability and conformational changes of the Nellix EndoVascular Aneurysm Sealing (EVAS) System using 3-dimensional (3D) analysis. Methods: Postoperative computed tomography (CT) scans obtained at 0, 3, and 12 months in 24 patients (mean age 75±7 years; 22 men) who underwent EVAS between December 2013 and December 2014 for intact abdominal aortic aneurysm (within the instructions for use) were evaluated for stent-graft deviation in multiple planes using dedicated 3D analysis software. In addition, 2D analysis using an anatomically fixed reference landmark was performed to assess craniocaudal migration. Clinical and follow-up data of the patients were recorded a…
