Fullerene imposed high open-circuit voltage in efficient perovskite based solar cells

Five different commercially available fullerenes are evaluated as hole blocking/electron transporting materials in p–i–n methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells using a vacuum deposited perovskite absorber layer. A significant enhancement of the solar cell performance can be obtained by selecting a suitable fullerene derivative. Open-circuit voltages as high as 1.11 volts are obtained leading to a power conversion efficiency of 14.6%.

Meniscus coated high open-circuit voltage bi-layer solar cells

Neat bi-layer solar cells of a fullerene acceptor and a cyanine dye donor were prepared using meniscus coating. Meniscus coating is very material efficient and leads to high quality pinhole-free films. The cells exhibit high open circuit voltages of 1 volt, only 0.8 eV below the band gap of the cyanine dye. This is one of the smallest differences reported for organic solar cells and illustrates an almost optimal donor-acceptor energy level alignment.

Electron density of states (DOS) and recombination kinetics of bulk heterojunction solar cells consisting of a poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) donor and two fullerene acceptors, either [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) or 4,4′-dihexyloxydiphenylmethano[60]fullerene (DPM6), have been determined by means of impedance spectroscopy. The observed difference of 125 mV in the output open-circuit voltage is attributed to significant differences of the occupancy of the DOS in both fullerenes. Voltage-controlled current loops with nanofluidic diodes electrically coupled to solid state capacitors

[EN] We describe experimentally and theoretically voltage-controlled current loops obtained with nanofluidic diodes immersed in aqueous salt solutions. The coupling of these soft matter diodes with conventional electronic elements such as capacitors permits simple equivalent circuits which show electrical properties reminiscent of a resistor with memory. High-voltage measurements on the 5 ppm relative uncertainty level with collinear laser spectroscopy

We present the results of high-voltage collinear laser spectroscopy measurements on the 5 ppm relative uncertainty level using a pump and probe scheme at the transition of involving the metastable state. With two-stage laser interaction and a reference measurement we can eliminate systematic effects such as differences in the contact potentials due to different electrode materials and thermoelectric voltages, and the unknown starting potential of the ions in the ion source. Voltage measurements were performed between −5 kV and −19 kV and parallel measurements with stable high-voltage dividers calibrated to 5 ppm relative uncertainty were used as a reference. Using Pulse Density Modulation to Improve the Efficiency of IGBT Inverters in Induction Heating Applications

This paper analyses a high power (50 kW), high frequency (150 kHz) voltage fed inverter with a series resonant load circuit for industrial induction heating applications which is characterized by a full bridge inverter made with IGBT and the power control based on pulse density modulation (PDM). This power control strategy allows that the inverter works close to the resonance frequency for all output power levels. In this situation zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and zero-current switching (ZCS) conditions are performed and the switching losses are minimized. First experiments with gasdynamic ion source in CW mode.

A new type of ECR ion source—a gasdynamic ECR ion source—has been recently developed at the Institute of Applied Physics. The main advantages of such device are extremely high ion beam current with a current density up to 600–700 emA/cm2 in combination with low emittance, i.e., normalized RMS emittance below 0.1 π mm mrad. Previous investigations were carried out in pulsed operation with 37.5 or 75 GHz gyrotron radiation with power up to 100 kW at SMIS 37 experimental facility. How the formation of interfacial charge causes hysteresis in perovskite solar cells

In this study, we discuss the underlying mechanism of the current-voltage hysteresis in a hybrid lead-halide perovskite solar cell. We have developed a method based on Kelvin probe force microscopy that enables mapping charge redistribution in an operating device upon a voltage- or light pulse with sub-millisecond resolution. We observed the formation of a localized interfacial charge at the anode interface, which screened most of the electric field in the cell. The formation of this charge happened within 10 ms after applying a forward voltage to the device.
