Būla funkciju simetrijas

2015

Ab initio simulations on N and S co-doped titania nanotubes for photocatalytic applications

2015

In this paper we present the results of quantum chemical modeling for energetically stable anatase (001) TiO2 nanotubes, undoped, doped, and codoped with N and S atoms. We calculate the electronic structure of one-dimensional (1D) nanotubes and zero-dimensional (0D) atomic fragments cut out from these nanotubes, employing hybrid density functional theory with a partial incorporation of an exact, nonlocal Hartree–Fock exchange within the formalism of the linear combination of atomic orbitals, as implemented in both CRYSTAL and NWChem total energy codes. Structural optimization of 1D nanotubes has been performed using CRYSTAL09 code, while the cut-out 0D fragments have been modelled using the…

Clubes y selecciones nacionales de fútbol. La dimensión etnoterritorial del fútbol español

2006

The first part of this paper shows, from a general viewpoint, the historical simultaneity in the emergence and development of football and the building of modern Nation-States, as well as their next differentiation in the socio-economical context of globalization. This differentiation or institutional separation implies an alteration and readjustment of the identity dynamic associated to this sport. Above this historical and conceptual background we consider a research on the ethnoterritorial dimension of the Spanish football. After dedicating the second part of the article to study some ethnoterritorial keys of his historic development, in the third part we present the analysis of the Span…

Biowaiver Monograph for Immediate-Release Solid Oral Dosage Forms: Ondansetron.

2019

Literature data pertaining to the physicochemical, pharmaceutical, and pharmacokinetic properties of ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate are reviewed to arrive at a decision on whether a marketing authorization of an immediate release (IR) solid oral dosage form can be approved based on a Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS)-based biowaiver. Ondansetron, a 5HT3 receptor antagonist, is used at doses ranging from 4 mg to 24 mg in the management of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and postoperative treatment. It is a weak base and thus exhibits pH-dependent solubility. However, it is able to meet the criteria of "high solubility" as well as "high permeabi…

Prevalence and severity of anaemia in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy and different degrees of chronic renal insufficiency.

2007

<i>Background/Aim:</i> Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the single most common cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD); however its real impact on renal anaemia has not been established. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether onset, severity, and prevalence of anaemia during the course of CKD is different between type 2 diabetic and non-diabetic patients. <i>Methods:</i> We enrolled 281 patients with: (1) type 2 diabetes and no CKD (n = 75); (2) type 2 diabetes plus CKD (n = 106), and (3) CKD without type 2 diabetes (n = 100). According to K/DOQI guidelines, the patients with renal insufficiency (i.e., those with a glomerular filtration rate <60 ml/min) were subgr…

Prevalence of biliary lithiasis in a Sicilian population of chronic renal failure patients.

2003

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of biliary lithiasis (BL) and associated risk factors in a population of undialysed patients with chronic renal failure (CRF), and to compare these with findings we had obtained previously in chronic haemodialysis (HD) patients and in subjects from the general population located in the same geographic region. METHODS A total of 118 CRF patients on conservative treatment were included in the study. In all subjects, we measured several clinical and humoral parameters potentially correlated with BL. Liver and biliary tract ultrasonography was performed with a 3.5 MHz linear probe after at least 12 h of fasting. RESULTS The prevale…

The Relationship of Amelogenesis Imperfecta and Nephrocalcinosis Syndrome

2008

Aim: To analyze the prevalence and associated oral findings of nephrocalcinosis in a group of patients affected with amelogenesis imperfecta (AI). The relationship between types of AI and nephrocalcinosis were also evaluated. Design: This study examines patients who were referred to Pediatric Dentistry Department of SDU between the years of 2002-2007 and who, upon clinical and radiological examination, were diagnosed with AI and treated. Patients were offered information about the possibility of nephrocalcinosis syndrome. Patients who agreed to have tests carried out on their renal system were advised to visit the department of nephrology at the clinic. Results: Suspicious radiopacity was o…

Association of human herpesvirus 6 and human herpesvirus 7 with demyelinating diseases of the nervous system.

2001

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells and plasma of 113 patients with neurological disorders and 150 blood donors were analyzed for HHV-6 and HHV-7 sequences by PCR. The prevalence of HHV-6 was significantly higher in patients with multiple sclerosis (P < 0.01) than in cases of nondemyelinating diseases of the central and demyelinating diseases of the peripheral nervous systems and blood donors. HHV-6 viremia was found only in patients with multiple sclerosis, predominantly in the active phase of the disease. A significantly higher frequency of HHV-7 reactivation in patients with demyelinating diseases of the peripheral nervous system suggests also its association with demyelinating processes.

Genetic relationship between five psychiatric disorders estimated from genome-wide SNPs

2013

AM Vicente - Cross-Disorder Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium Most psychiatric disorders are moderately to highly heritable. The degree to which genetic variation is unique to individual disorders or shared across disorders is unclear. To examine shared genetic etiology, we use genome-wide genotype data from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) for cases and controls in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We apply univariate and bivariate methods for the estimation of genetic variation within and covariation between disorders. SNPs explained 17-29% of the variance in …

Multitasking associative networks.

2012

We introduce a bipartite, diluted and frustrated, network as a sparse restricted Boltzman machine and we show its thermodynamical equivalence to an associative working memory able to retrieve multiple patterns in parallel without falling into spurious states typical of classical neural networks. We focus on systems processing in parallel a finite (up to logarithmic growth in the volume) amount of patterns, mirroring the low-level storage of standard Amit-Gutfreund-Sompolinsky theory. Results obtained trough statistical mechanics, signal-to-noise technique and Monte Carlo simulations are overall in perfect agreement and carry interesting biological insights. Indeed, these associative network…
