Kinematics of the ulna during pronation and supination in a cadaver study: implications for elbow arthroplasty

Objective. Aim of this study was to exactly describe and quantify kinematics of the ulna during pro- and supination. Design. Biomechanical study in fresh frozen cadavers. Background. A previous MRI study revealed a varus/valgus motion of the ulna averaging 7.1° during pro-/supination. Axial rotation, however, could not be quantified. Methods. Sixteen arms were examined in a new apparatus that fixed the humerus on a template and allowed forearm rotation. Motion of a Kirschner wire placed in the ulna was recorded in steps of 30° by two perpendicularly arranged charge coupled device cameras during pro- and supination. Results. In earlier times, clinical pictures such as rickets were often the reason for this kind of deformity. A causal therapy did not exist until the twentieth century. The medial and lateral collateral ligament complexes represent primary elbow ligament stabilizers. Injury to these structures may occur because of an elbow dislocation or due to a severe varus or valgus force. Most elbow dislocations are stable once reduced and may be treated conservatively. However, if the elbow remains unstable surgical treatment is recommended. Repair should be anatomical and should restore stability to the elbow in order to permit an early active range of motion. Pasientene er mer aktive, krever mer informasjon og mer bestemmelsesrett enn tidligere. Denne oppgaven retter fokus mot hvordan helsepersonell opplever denne endringen. I studien undersøkes det hvordan metoden samvalg med bruk av digitalt samvalgsverktøy påvirker helsepersonells måte å kommunisere med pasienter på. Både hvilke muligheter og utfordringer det digitale beslutningsverktøyet gir for kommunikasjonen med pasienter, og hvilke holdninger helsepersonell har knyttet til dette vil undersøkes. Mannlige vernepleiere og deres yrkesvalg

Myndighetene formulerte målet om et kjønnsblandet arbeidsliv for ti år siden. Graden av måloppnåelse for enkelte yrkesgrupper er noe belyst, men det finnes lite kjønnsspesifikk forskning innen vernepleieryrket. Formålet med denne studien har vært å undersøke og beskrive hva som kjennetegner mannlige vernepleiere og deres yrkesvalg. I tillegg har vi undersøkt hvilke faktorer hos menn som har sammenheng med å ta et bevisst valg om å bli vernepleier. Resultatene er basert på data fra SSB og en spørreundersøkelse blant mannlige vernepleiere (n=487). Tall fra SSB tyder på at aldersfordelingen blant mannlige vernepleiere kan være i endring. Kājas īkšķa deformācija jeb Hallux Valgus ir viena no izplatītākajām pēdas deformācijām, kas rada ne tikai kosmētiskus defektus, bet arī būtiski ietekmē visu balsta kustību sistēmu. Lai arī agrīnās stadijās ārstēšana iespējama ar konservatīvām metodēm, pacienti bieži nevēršas pie speciālistiem, kā rezultātā palielinās nepieciešamība pēc ķirurģiskas ārstēšanas pielietojuma.
