Andamento dei valori fondiari in Italia ed in Sicilia
2013
The present study has two aims, to provide a further contribute to the literature on land market, and to highlight the possible relationships between some macroeconomic factors affecting the land values trend in Italy and in Sicily. The data obtainable from the available information sources in the field were collected and processed. More in detail, in the first part of the paper a reference scenario is described through the presentation of the general features of agricultural land market, relying upon the specific scientific literature. Hereinafter, some time series at national and Sicilian level were built by using average agricultural land values, inflation rates and agricultural value ad…
The relation between human values and perceived situation characteristics in everyday life
2018
Values refer to abstract beliefs which serve as guidelines in peoples’ life and affect the way people and events are evaluated. Simultaneously, unlike attitudes, values transcend specific actions, and situations. While recent research showed that values are related to the attention and interpretation of situational information in standardized laboratory settings, up to date hardly any empirical work investigated how values relate to situation perception in daily life. In our study, we assessed the relation between the endorsement of human values and situation characteristics (i.e., the 8 DIAMONDS). Using the Day Reconstruction Method in two samples (German and US-American), we found that es…
Nurses' Experiences of Caring for Older Persons in Transition to Receive Homecare: Being Somewhere in between Competing Values
2013
Older persons in transition to need professional care in their homes will constitute a large group in municipalities in the future. The aim of this study was to obtain insight into nurses' experiences and perceptions of caring for patients in transition to receive homecare. Eleven home nurses divided into two focus groups were interviewed, and a phenomenological hermeneutical design was used. Four interpretations closely related to each other were revealed: it is essential to have an understanding of the patients' transition history; the nurse' repertoire is challenged in the transition process; care must be adapted to the patients' life world; the excellence of care is threatened by the co…
Empathy in children practising judo compared to their non-practicing peers
2019
[EN] Many authors dealing with martial arts and combat sports indicate that this form of activity contributes to limiting aggressive behavior towards other people. Contemporary psychological and pedagogical knowledge explains that empathy is one of the factors that determines a friendly and aggression-free attitude of people towards others. This study we compared the level of empathy between children practicing judo for a minimum of two years and their peers who did not practiced any martial art. Results showed higher levels of empathy in the group of judo practitioners. Judo trainers also agreed that judo participation may improve children’s emotional development (emotional self-regulation…
Implementation of the Comprehensive Approach. Leadership factors that influence the respect of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law
2020
The respect of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law is linked to conflict resolution and recent experiences show that is not possible to prevent, manage or resolve a conflict only with military means, a Comprehensive Approach is essential and in this context leadership assumes a crucial role. The purpose of this study is to determine the leadership factors influencing the respect of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. The first research question focuses on the relevance of the Comprehensive Approach, while the remaining questions examine why it is so difficult to implement it and how its implementation could improve the respect for Human Rights and the cooperation be…
What drives future business leaders? How work values and gender shape young adults' entrepreneurial and leadership aspirations
2018
Highlights • Work values strongly predict later entrepreneurial aspirations and leadership aspirations. • The pattern of relationships was similar but not identical for both aspirations. • There is a gender gap in both entrepreneurial aspirations and leadership aspirations. • Gender differences in work values contribute to the gender gap in these aspirations. Abstract Who wants to become a business leader? We investigated whether young adults' work values (i.e., the importance placed on different job characteristics and rewards) predict their entrepreneurial aspirations (i.e., the intention to create a venture) and leadership aspirations (i.e., the intention to become a leader in a business…
What drives future business leaders? How work values and gender shape young adults' entrepreneurial and leadership aspirations
2018
Who wants to become a business leader? We investigated whether young adults' work values (i.e., the importance placed on different job characteristics and rewards) predict their entrepreneurial aspirations (i.e., the intention to create a venture) and leadership aspirations (i.e., the intention to become a leader in a business context). Furthermore, we illuminated whether gender differences in work values contribute to the pervasive gender gap in these aspirations. Analyses in a sample of young adults from Finland (N = 1138) revealed that a higher importance placed on extrinsic rewards and a lower importance placed on security at age 21 predicted higher entrepreneurial and leadership aspira…
Percepciones Organizacionales, Liderazgo y Desempeño en el Trabajo: ¿Están Relacionados?
2011
An in depth review of literature shows that there is a pressing need to holistically understand how and why the organizational leadership process affects organizational behavior in outcomes (e.g. job performance) differently, depending on various national culture settings. One approach may seek to unveil the moderation of cultural values on the relationship between preferred as well as exhibited styles of leadership and behavioral organizational outcomes. An alternative approach may explore how and why cultural values affect the relationship between the quality of leader - subordinate relationships (LMX) and behavioral organizational outcomes differently. Moreover, as we notice a constant g…
Organizational Perceptions, Leadership and Performance in Work Settings: Do they Interrelate?
2011
Strategically Balanced Change: A Key Factor in Modern Management
2006
Organizational change is a much discussed topic in the management literature. It is an important issue because proper change management significantly increases the survival of an organization in today’s hypercompetitive global business environment. Yet, all too often transformational change programs fail due to a variety of reasons. The purpose of this paper is to describe change from different angles (e.g., themes and types of change, importance of change, resistance to change, and change lessons) and to utilize the literature information to identify key components of organizational change in order to develop a “Model of Strategically Balanced Change”. I argue that transformational change …
