Matching stages of heavy-ion collision models

2010

Heavy-ion reactions and other collective dynamical processes are frequently described by different theoretical approaches for the different stages of the process, like initial equilibration stage, intermediate locally equilibrated fluid dynamical stage, and final freeze-out stage. For the last stage, the best known is the Cooper-Frye description used to generate the phase space distribution of emitted, noninteracting particles from a fluid dynamical expansion or explosion, assuming a final ideal gas distribution, or (less frequently) an out-of-equilibrium distribution. In this work we do not want to replace the Cooper-Frye description, but rather clarify the ways of using it and how to choo…

Translationally-Invariant Coupled-Cluster Method for Finite Systems

1997

The translational invariant formulation of the coupled-cluster method is presented here at the complete SUB(2) level for a system of nucleons treated as bosons. The correlation amplitudes are solution of a non-linear coupled system of equations. These equations have been solved for light and medium systems, considering the central but still semi-realistic nucleon-nucleon S3 interaction.

Covariant description of kinetic freeze out through a finite space-like layer

2005

The problem of Freeze Out (FO) in relativistic heavy ion reactions is addressed. We develop and analyze an idealized one-dimensional model of FO in a finite layer, based on the covariant FO probability. The resulting post FO phase-space distributions are discussed for different FO probabilities and layer thicknesses.

Z c (3900): What has been really seen?

2016

The $Z^\pm_c(3900)/Z^\pm_c(3885)$ resonant structure has been experimentally observed in the $Y(4260) \to J/\psi \pi\pi$ and $Y(4260) \to \bar{D}^\ast D \pi$ decays. This structure is intriguing since it is a prominent candidate of an exotic hadron. Yet, its nature is unclear so far. In this work, we simultaneously describe the $\bar{D}^\ast D$ and $J/\psi \pi$ invariant mass distributions in which the $Z_c$ peak is seen using amplitudes with exact unitarity. Two different scenarios are statistically acceptable, where the origin of the $Z_c$ state is different. They correspond to using energy dependent or independent $\bar D^* D$ $S$-wave interaction. In the first one, the $Z_c$ peak is due…

The antikaon–nucleus interaction and alternative views to deeply bound antikaonic nuclear systems

2008

Abstract We present an overview of the latest theoretical studies on the antikaon properties in the nuclear medium, in connection with the recent experimental claims of very deeply bound antikaon nuclear states. We argue that proper many-body formulations using modern realistic antikaon–nucleon interactions are not able to generate such systems. Instead, a simple two-nucleon antikaon absorption mechanism where the remaining nucleus acts as spectator explains the enhancement observed in semi-inclusive proton momentum spectra, seen as a bump in the KEK PS-E549 experiment on a 4 He target or as a peak in the FINUDA experiment on a 6 Li target. This signal is clearly visible in another FINUDA e…

Experimental review of e + e − →ππh c

2016

We review the recent BESIII measurement of e+e− → ππhc in which its line shape is studied between the center-of-mass energies of 3.9 to 4.42 GeV and an iso-vector charmonium-like state Zc(4020) is observed in the invariant mass of πhc at the BESIII experiment. The charged Zc(4020)± is the second observed Zc state following Zc(3900), while the Zc(4020)0 is the first observed neutral Zc state. The line shape of σ(e+e− → ππhc) is also re-analyzed in view of searching for the Y state and the existence of the Y(4220) state is confirmed and compared with the previous work of the BESIII experiment.

Studies ofWboson plus jets production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2013

We present a comprehensive analysis of inclusive W(-> ev) + n-jet (n >= 1, 2, 3, 4) production in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Tevatron collider using a 3.7 fb(-1) data set collected by the D0 detector. Differential cross sections are presented as a function of the jet rapidities (y), lepton transverse momentum (P-T) and pseudorapidity (eta), the scalar sum of the transverse energies of the W boson and all jets (H-T), leading dijet P-T and invariant mass, dijet rapidity separations for a variety of jet pairings for P-T-ordered and angular-ordered jets, dijet opening angle, dijet azimuthal angular separations for P-T-ordered and angular-ordered j…

Thee+e−→2(π+π−)π0,2(π+π−)η,K+K−π+π−π0andK+K−π+π−ηcross sections measured with initial-state radiation

2007

We study the processes $e^+ e^-\to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0\gamma$, $2(\pi^+\pi^-)\eta\gamma$, $K^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\gamma$ and $K^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^-\eta\gamma$ with the hard photon radiated from the initial state. About 20000, 4300, 5500 and 375 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 232 fb$^{-1}$ of BaBar data. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective $e^+ e^-$ center-of-mass energy, so that the obtained cross sections from the threshold to about 5 GeV can be compared with corresponding direct \epem measurements, currently available only for the $\eta\pi^+\pi^-$ and $\omega\pi^+\pi^-$ submodes of the $e^+ e^-\to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0$ channel. Studyi…

Measurement of the branching fraction andΛ¯polarization inB0→Λ¯pπ−

2009

We present a measurement of the B0 --> Lambda-bar p pi- branching fraction performed using the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider. Based on a sample of 467 million BB-bar pairs we measure B(B0 --> Lambda-bar p pi-) = [3.07 pm 0.31 (stat.) pm 0.23 (syst.)] x 10^{-6}. The measured differential spectrum as a function of the dibaryon invariant mass m(Lambda p) shows a near-threshold enhancement similar to that observed in other baryonic B decays. We study the Lambda-bar polarization as a function of Lambda-bar energy in the B0 rest frame (E*_Lambda) and compare it with theoretical expectations of fully longitudinally right-polarized Lambda-bar at large E*_Lambda.

Time-dependent and time-integrated angular analysis ofB→φKS0π0andφK±π∓

2008

We perform a time-dependent and time-integrated angular analysis of the B{sup 0} {yields} {psi}K*(892){sup 0}, {psi}K*{sub 2}(1430{sup 0}), and {psi}(K{pi}){sub S-wave}{sup 0} decays with the final sample of about 465 million B{bar B} pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. Overall, twelve parameters are measured for the vector-vector decay, nine parameters for the vector-tensor decay, and three parameters for the vector-scalar decay, including the branching fractions, CP-violation parameters, and parameters sensitive to final state interaction. We use the dependence on the K{pi} invariant mass of the interference between the scalar and vector or tensor components to resolve discrete ambigu…
