Study ofB→D(*)Ds(J)(*)decays and measurement ofDs−andDsJ(2460)−branching fractions
2006
We present branching fraction measurements of twelve B meson decays of the form B --> D^(*)D_s(J)^(*). The results are based on Y(4S) decays in BBbar pairs. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and the other decays to two charm mesons, of which one is reconstructed, and the mass and momentum of the other is inferred by kinematics. Combining these results with previous exclusive branching fraction measurements, we determine BR(D_s^- --> phi pi^-) = (4.62 +/- 0.36_stat. +/- 0.51_syst.)%, BR(D_sJ(2460)^- --> D_s^*- pi^0) = (56 +/- 13_stat. +/- 9_syst.)% and BR(D-sJ(2460)^- --> D_s^- gamma) = (16 +/- 4_stat. +/- 3_syst.)%.
Study of theDsJ*(2317)+andDsJ(2460)+mesons in inclusivecc¯production nears=10.6 GeV
2006
A study of the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)^+$ and $D_{sJ}(2460)^+$ mesons in inclusive $c\bar{c}$ production is presented using 232~${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the BaBar experiment near $\sqrt{s} = 10.6$~\gev. Final states consisting of a $D_s^+$ meson along with one or more $\pi^0$, $\pi^\pm$, or $\gamma$ particles are considered. Estimates of the mass and limits on the width are provided for both mesons and for the $D_{s1}(2536)^+$ meson. A search is also performed for neutral and doubly-charged partners of the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)^+$ meson.
What to learn from dilepton transverse momentum spectra in heavy-ion collisions?
2007
Recently the NA60 collaboration has presented high precision measurements of dimuon spectra double differential in invariant mass $M$ and transverse pair momentum $p_T$ in In-In collisions at $158 {\rm AGeV}$. While the $M$-dependence is important for an understanding of in-medium changes of light vector mesons and is $p_T$ integrated insensitive to collective expansion, the $p_T$-dependence arises from an interplay between emission temperature and collective transverse flow. This fact can be exploited to derive constraints on the evolution model and in particular on the contributions of different phases of the evolution to dimuon radiation into a given $M$ window. We present arguments that…
Measurement of the directCP-violating parameterACPin the decayD+→K−π+π+
2014
We measure the direct CP-violating parameter A_CP for the decay of the charged charm meson, D+ -> K-pi+pi+ (and charge conjugate), using the full 10.4 fb-1 sample of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We extract the raw reconstructed charge asymmetry by fitting the invariant mass distributions for the sum and difference of charge-specific samples. This quantity is then corrected for detector-related asymmetries using data-driven methods and for possible physics asymmetries (from B -> D processes) using input from Monte Carlo simulation. We measure A_CP = [-0.16 +- 0.15 (stat.) +- 0.09 (syst.)]%, which is consistent with zer…
Theγd→K+K−npreaction and an alternative explanation for the “Θ+(1540)pentaquark” peak
2010
We present a calculation of the $\ensuremath{\gamma}d\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}np$ reaction with the aim of seeing whether the experimental peak observed in the ${K}^{+}n$ invariant mass around $1526$ MeV, from where evidence for the existence of the ${\ensuremath{\Theta}}^{+}$ has been claimed, can be obtained without this resonance as a consequence of the particular dynamics of the process and the cuts applied in the experimental setup. We find that a combination of facts leads indeed to a peak around $1530$ MeV for the invariant mass of ${K}^{+}n$ without the need to invoke any new resonance around this energy. This, together with statistical fluctuations that we…
B meson spectroscopy
2008
We study the $B$ meson spectroscopy allowing the mixture of conventional $P$ wave quark-antiquark states and four-quark components. A similar picture was used to describe the new $D_J$ and $D_{sJ}$ open charm mesons. The four-quark components shift the masses of some positive parity $B_{sJ}$ states below their corresponding isospin preserving two-meson threshold and therefore they are expected to be narrow. Electromagnetic decay widths are analyzed.
Form factors for semileptonic, nonleptonic, and rareB(Bs)meson decays
2012
We provide new values for the model parameters of the covariant constituent quark model (with built–in infrared confinement) in the meson sector by a fit to the leptonic decay constants and a number of electromagnetic decays. We then evaluate, in a parameter-free way, the form factors of the B(Bs) ! P(V ) transitions in the full kinematical region of momentum transfer. As an application of our results we calculate the widths of the nonleptonic Bs-decays into Ds D + , D s D + s +D s D + s
Resonances and the Weinberg-Tomozawa 56-baryon-35-meson interaction
2006
Vector meson degrees of freedom are incorporated into the Weinberg-Tomozawa (WT) meson-baryon chiral Lagrangian by using a scheme which relies on spin--flavor SU(6) symmetry. The corresponding Bethe-Salpeter approximation successfully reproduces previous SU(3)--flavor WT results for the lowest-lying s--wave negative parity baryon resonances, and it also provides some information on the dynamics of the heavier ones. Moreover, it also predicts the existence of an isoscalar spin-parity $\frac32^-$ $K^*N$ bound state (strangeness +1) with a mass around 1.7--1.8 GeV, unstable through $K^*$ decay. Neglecting d-wave KN decays, this state turns out to be quite narrow ($\Gamma \le 15$ MeV) and it mi…
sigma meson in a nuclear medium through two pion photoproduction
2003
We show theoretical results for $(\gamma, \pi^0 \pi^0)$ production on nucleons and nuclei in the kinematical region where the scalar isoscalar $\pi \pi$ amplitude is influenced by the $\sigma$ pole. The final state interaction of the pions modified by the nuclear medium produces a spectacular shift of strength of the two pion invariant mass distribution induced by the moving of the $\sigma$ pole to lower masses and widths as the nuclear density increases.
Observation of theχc2(2P)meson in the reactionγγ→DD¯atBABAR
2010
A search for the Z(3930) resonance in gamma gamma production of the DDbar system has been performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 384 fb^-1 recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The DDbar invariant mass distribution shows clear evidence of the Z(3930) state with a significance of 5.8 sigma. We determine mass and width values of (3926.7 +- 2.7 +- 1.1) MeV/c^2 and (21.3 +- 6.8 +- 3.6) MeV, respectively. A decay angular analysis provides evidence that the Z(3930) is a tensor state with positive parity and C-parity (J^PC = 2^++); therefore we identify the Z(3930) state as the chi_c2(2P) meson. The value of…
