The article examines artistic exchanges between the USSR and Finland from the viewpoint of the Finnish left. After WWII, Finland was in a difficult geopolitical position; although not occupied by the USSR, it received little support from the West and so remained an independent capitalist democracy, with little foreign leverage. The Soviet influence was felt in many areas, and throughout the Cold War, Finland received many more world-class Soviet artists than any other Western country. Vertical distribution of crop load and fruit quality within vase- and Y-shaped canopies of 'Elegant Lady' peach

Canopy shape and depth may influence crop uniformity of peach trees at harvest. To test this hypothesis we examined yield distribution and fruit quality changes at different canopy levels of peach trees trained to delayed vase (DV) and perpendicular Y (Y). Trees of both training forms were divided vertically into six or seven 50-cm-deep layers and fruit was harvested at commercial ripening from each layer separately. Regardless of training form, number of fruit and yield per layer were highest in the central part of the canopy, but more evenly distributed among canopy layers in Y trees. The white ground crater by the Phiale Painter (450–440 BC) exhibited in the “Pietro Griffo” Archaeological Museum in Agrigento (Italy) depicts two scenes from Perseus myth. The vase is of utmost importance to archaeologists because the figures are drawn on a white background with remarkable daintiness and attention to detail. This study revisiting finds with figural decoration from early excavations of the residential area of the town of Himera has sparked a new approach to reconstructing the figural repertoire, mythographic heritage and spectrum of ritual and sacred practices wihch must have characterised this colonial city before its destruction at the end of the 5th century B.C. The author has studied, in particular, various clay arulae and the figural decoration on vases painted by the Himera Painter, which were used in the ritual life of the domestic quarters of the town and whose subject matter appears to be derived exclusively from the sagas of Thessaly and Boeotia. La ceramica figurata lilibetana "in added colour": breve nota di riesame

The paper offers a contribution to the study of Lilibeo’s figured vases, which make extensive use of added color. The examination of some contexts allows us to clarify the old idea of a derivation of the Lilibetane vases from the workshops of Lipari, due to a displacement of artisans who would operate first in Lipari and then in Lilibeo (like the Swans Painter). It is not completely excludes the movement of craftsmen due to destructions or political changes. However it reconstructs complex interactions in which a main role had to play the influence and the action of medium exercised by the same imported artifacts (Lipari vases, mainly, but not only).
Anesthetic efficacy of Oraqix versus Hurricaine and placebo for pain control during non-surgical periodontal treatment

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of Oraqix® during scaling and root planing (SRP) in comparison with 20% benzocaine and placebo. Study Design: 15 patients requiring 4 sessions of SRP were enrolled. For each patient, Oraqix®, Hurricaine®, vaseline or no anesthetic product were randomly assigned each to a quadrant. Treatment pain was evaluated on a 100 mm Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and on a Verbal Rating Scale (VRS). The amount of product administered, the need to re-anesthetise, patient and operator satisfaction and the onset of side-effects were also recorded.
