The Arctic tadpole shrimp Lepidurus arcticus has a circumpolar distribution and the Scandes (Fennoscandian Mountains) marks its southernmost limit in Europe. Within this area, 391 natural and 88 regulated lakes with L. arcticus have been identified, of which 87% are above the treeline. Teacher emotional support in relation to social competence in preschool classrooms

The present study aimed to investigate the associations between teachers’ observed emotional support and social competence among Finnish pre-schoolers (6-year-olds). The quality of emotional support was observed using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System Pre-K in 47 preschool classrooms twice across the preschool year. Teachers rated children’s social competence in autumn and again in spring, using the Multisource Assessment of Social Competence Scale (MASCS), which produced sum scores for cooperating skills, empathy, impulsivity, and disruptiveness. Darbā tika pētīta un attīstīta metālu halkogenīdu divdimensiju mikrokristālu iegūšanas metode, izmantojot ultraskaņas eksfoliāciju šķidrumā, un no iegūtajiem mikrokristāliem tika izgatavoti un raksturoti fotodetektoru prototipi. Ierīču izveidošanai un raksturošanai tika izmantotas LU CFI pieejamās zinātniskās iekārtas. Darbs sastāv no literatūras apskata un eksperimentālās daļas, kurā aprakstītas izmantotās eksperimentālās metodes un ietverti iegūtie rezultāti. Article published in Photochemistry and Photobiology, 86 (4): 909-919 JUL-AUG 2010 The effect of UV radiation (UVR) on juvenile Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) was assessed by measuring the fatty acid (FA) profiles of muscle, dorsal and ventral skin, and ocular tissues following 4-month long exposures to four different UVR treatments in outdoor rearing tanks. Fish were fed two different diets (Anchovy- and Herring-oil based) that differed in polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) concentrations.
