Triangle Singularity as the Origin of the a1(1420)

The COMPASS Collaboration experiment recently discovered a new isovector resonancelike signal with axial-vector quantum numbers, the a 1 ( 1420 ) , decaying to f 0 ( 980 ) π . With a mass too close to and a width smaller than the axial-vector ground state a 1 ( 1260 ) , it was immediately interpreted as a new light exotic meson, similar to the X , Y , Z states in the hidden-charm sector. We show that a resonancelike signal fully matching the experimental data is produced by the decay of the a 1 ( 1260 ) resonance into K * ( → K π ) K ¯ and subsequent rescattering through a triangle singularity into the coupled f 0 ( 980 ) π channel. Nucleon isovector charges and twist-2 matrix elements with Nf=2+1 dynamical Wilson quarks

We present results from a lattice QCD study of nucleon matrix elements at vanishing momentum transfer for local and twist-2 isovector operator insertions. Computations are performed on gauge ensembles with nonperturbatively improved ${N}_{f}=2+1$ Wilson fermions, covering four values of the lattice spacing and pion masses down to ${M}_{\ensuremath{\pi}}\ensuremath{\approx}200\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}$. Several source-sink separations (typically $\ensuremath{\sim}1.0$ to $\ensuremath{\sim}1.5\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{fm}$) allow us to assess excited-state contamination. The low-lying energy spectrum of the extremely neutron-deficient self-conjugate (N = Z) nuclide 88 44Ru44 has been measured using the combination of the Advanced Gamma Tracking Array (AGATA) spectrometer, the NEDA and Neutron Wall neutron detector arrays, and the DIAMANT charged particle detector array. Excited states in 88Ru were populated via the 54Fe(36Ar; 2n )88Ru fusion-evaporation reaction at the Grand Acc�el�erateur National d'Ions Lourds (GANIL) accelerator complex. Neutral-current supernova-neutrino cross sections for Pb204,206,208 calculated by Skyrme quasiparticle random-phase approximation

The present work constitutes a detailed study of neutral-current (NC) supernova-neutrino scattering off the stable even-even lead isotopes Pb204,206,208. This is a continuation of our previous work [Almosly et al., Phys. Rev. C. 94, 044614 (2016)10.1103/PhysRevC.94.044614] where we investigated charged-current processes on the same nuclei. As in the previous work, we have adopted the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) as the theory framework and use three different Skyrme interactions to build the involved nuclear wave functions. Birkhoff theorem and conformal Killing-Yano tensors

We analyze the main geometric conditions imposed by the hypothesis of the Jebsen-Birkhoff theorem. We show that the result (existence of an additional Killing vector) does not necessarily require a three-dimensional isometry group on two-dimensional orbits but only the existence of a conformal Killing-Yano tensor. In this approach the (additional) isometry appears as the known invariant Killing vector that the ${\cal D}$-metrics admit.

A deformation of a disk D of radius r is described as follows: Let two disks D1 and D2 have the same radius r, and let the distance between the two disk centers be 2a, 0 ≤ a ≤ r. The deformation transforms D into the intersection D1 ∩ D2. This deformation is parametrized by e = a/r. For e = 0, there is no deformation, and the deformation starts when e, starting from 0, increases, transforming the disk into a lens. Modeling of photonic crystal fibers from the scalar wave equation with a purely transverse linearly polarized vector potential

In this work, we propose a new technique for modeling light propagation in photonic crystal fibers where the electric field is evaluated from a purely transverse linearly polarized vector potential. The vector potential in a nonuniform dielectric obeys a wave equation coupled to the scalar potential, but it can be reduced to a scalar wave equation when the coupling term is ignored to the lowest order approximation. We show that this method gives reliable results for photonic crystal fibers when the scalar analysis is improved by a perturbational correction.

In this series of lectures, I would like to discuss the basic aspects of the standard electroweak theory, as well as some alternatives. The phenomenology associated with charged and neutral currents weak interaction will show the success of the standard theory in giving a quantitative account of the existing data. The framework of most of our considerations will be that of an effective theory at low momentum transfer, low with respect to the masses of the intermediate vector bosons, 80–90 GeV. As an extension of the standard theory for the leptonic sector, I will contemplate the possibility of massive neutrinos being described by Majorana fields, leading to exotic phenomena induced by lepto…
Random polarisations of the dipoles

We extend the dipole formalism for massless and massive partons to random polarisations of the external partons. The dipole formalism was originally formulated for spin-summed matrix elements and later extended to individual helicity eigenstates. For efficiency reasons one wants to replace the spin sum by a smooth integration over additional variables. This requires the extension of the dipole formalism to random polarisations. In this paper we derive the modified subtraction terms. We only modify the real subtraction terms, the integrated subtraction terms do not require any modifications.
