Photoproduction of η and η′ mesons with EtaMAID

2016

The unitary isobar model EtaMAID has been updated with an extended list of nucleon resonances, fitted to recent and new data for differential cross sections and polarization observables. The nonresonant background is described by Regge trajectories of ω,ρ and a 1 , b 1 mesons and in addition Regge cuts, where vector and axial vector mesons are exchanged together with Pomeron and f 2 mesons.

Nuclear matrix elements for0νββdecays with light or heavy Majorana-neutrino exchange

2015

We compute the nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) corresponding to the neutrinoless double beta ($0\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\beta}\ensuremath{\beta}$) decays of nuclei which attract current experimental interest. We concentrate on ground-state-to-ground-state decay transitions mediated by light (l-NMEs) or heavy (h-NMEs) Majorana neutrinos. The computations are done in realistic single-particle model spaces using the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) with two-nucleon interactions based on the Bonn one-boson-exchange $G$ matrix. Both the l-NMEs and the h-NMEs include the appropriate short-range correlations, nucleon form factors, and higher-order nucleonic weak …

Analysis of Cylindrical Dielectric Resonators in Rectangular Cavities Using a State-Space Integral-Equation Method

2006

In this letter, a state-space integral-equation method in the s-domain has been employed for the accurate analysis of rectangular cavities loaded with cylindrical dielectric resonators. The dielectric obstacles have been treated in terms of their polarization equivalent charge and current densities. The dielectric resonator can be placed at any arbitrary position inside the cavity. The presented technique allows to calculate in a very efficient way a large number of solenoidal modes. The resonant frequencies of dielectric-loaded cavities are calculated and compared with data from literature and a commercial finite element method software, showing a good agreement

A large rotating structure around AB Doradus A at VLBI scale

2019

AbstractWe report the results of three VLBI observations of the pre-main-sequence star AB Doradus A at 8.4 GHz. With almost three years between consecutive observations, we found a complex structure at the expected position of this star for all epochs. Maps at epochs 2007 and 2010 show a double core-halo morphology while the 2013 map reveals three emission peaks with separations between 5 and 18 stellar radii. Furthermore, all maps show a clear variation of the source structure within the observing time. We consider a number of hypothesis in order to explain such observations, mainly: magnetic reconnection in loops on the polar cap, a more general loop scenario and a close companion to AB D…

Monte Carlo investigation of a model for a three-dimensional orientational glass with short-range gaussian interaction

1987

The analogue of the Edwards-Anderson model for isotropic vector spin glasses, but taking quadrupoles instead of unit vectors at each lattice site of the considered simple cubic lattice, is studied as a model for an orientational glass. We study both the case where the quadrupole moment can orient in a three-dimensional space (m=3) and the case where the orientation is restricted to a plane (m=2), but otherwise the Hamiltonian is fully isotropic. ℋ= $$ - \sum\limits_{\left\langle {i,j} \right\rangle } {J_{ij} } \left[ {\left( {\sum\limits_{\mu = 1}^m {S_i^\mu S_j^\mu } } \right)^2 - \frac{1}{m}} \right]$$ , whereJ ij is a random gaussian interaction between nearest neighbors, andS i μ the μ'…

Spinodal decomposition in a binary polymer mixture: Dynamic self-consistent-field theory and Monte Carlo simulations

2001

We investigate how the dynamics of a single chain influences the kinetics of early stage phase separation in a symmetric binary polymer mixture. We consider quenches from the disordered phase into the region of spinodal instability. On a mean field level we approach this problem with two methods: a dynamical extension of the self consistent field theory for Gaussian chains, with the density variables evolving in time, and the method of the external potential dynamics where the effective external fields are propagated in time. Different wave vector dependencies of the kinetic coefficient are taken into account. These early stages of spinodal decomposition are also studied through Monte Carlo…

Dynamical Heterogeneities Below the Glass Transition

2001

We present molecular dynamics simulations of a binary Lennard-Jones mixture at temperatures below the kinetic glass transition. The ``mobility'' of a particle is characterized by the amplitude of its fluctuation around its average position. The 5% particles with the largest/smallest mean amplitude are thus defined as the relatively most mobile/immobile particles. We investigate for these 5% particles their spatial distribution and find them to be distributed very heterogeneously in that mobile as well as immobile particles form clusters. The reason for this dynamic heterogeneity is traced back to the fact that mobile/immobile particles are surrounded by fewer/more neighbors which form an ef…

How to solve Fokker-Planck equation treating mixed eigenvalue spectrum?

2013

An analogy of the Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) with the Schr\"odinger equation allows us to use quantum mechanics technique to find the analytical solution of the FPE in a number of cases. However, previous studies have been limited to the Schr\"odinger potential with a discrete eigenvalue spectrum. Here, we will show how this approach can be also applied to a mixed eigenvalue spectrum with bounded and free states. We solve the FPE with boundaries located at x=\pm L/2 and take the limit L\rightarrow\infty, considering the examples with constant Schr\"{o}dinger potential and with P\"{o}schl-Teller potential. An oversimplified approach was proposed earlier by M.T. Araujo and E. Drigo Filho. A…

Quantitative tests of mode-coupling theory for fragile and strong glass-formers

2001

We calculate for a binary mixture of Lennard-Jones particles the time dependence of the solution of the mode-coupling equations in which the full wave vector dependence is taken into account. In addition we also take into account the short time dynamics, which we model with a simple memory kernel. We find that the so obtained solution agrees very well with the time and wave vector dependence of the coherent and incoherent intermediate scattering functions as determined from molecular dynamics computer simulations. Furthermore we calculate the wave vector dependence of the Debye-Waller factor for a realistic model of silica and compare these results with the ones obtained from a simulation o…
