A Real time locating system for local fleet management

Abstract Local locating systems are necessary where a big number of units are handled. In this case, we propose a management system for parking spaces for vehicles that are distributed among eight different-sized lots on a 1.8 million square meter premises. In order to quickly locate each particular vehicle in this area, a new real time location system (RTLS) has been successfully installed. The vehicle location system Moby-R automatically monitors every vehicle movement and tracks its current parked position. All the vehicles are given a data carrier which is attached to the inside rear-view mirror with a special hanger, precisely locating the vehicle within approximately five meters

Targeting of biotinylated compounds to its target tissue using a low-density lipoprotein receptor–avidin fusion protein

The very high binding affinity of avidin to biotin is one of the highest to occur in nature. We constructed a fusion protein composed of avidin and the endocytotic LDL receptor in order to target biotinylated molecules to cells of the desired tissues. In addition to the native avidin, charge-mutated and nonglycosylated avidins were utilized as part of the fusion proteins, in order to modify its properties. All of the fusion protein versions retained the biotin-binding capacity. Although the specificity was not increased, however, fusion proteins composed of natural avidin and nonglycosylated avidin bound most efficiently to the biotinylated ligands. Expression and trafficking of fluorescent viral membrane proteins in baculovirus-transduced BHK cells

Baculovirus vectors show promise as a novel tool for gene delivery into mammalian cells and gene transfer with wild-type baculovirus has been demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo. To study expression and intracellular trafficking of foreign viral membrane proteins in baculovirus-transduced mammalian cells, the envelope proteins, E1 and E2, of rubella virus (RV) were chosen as a model. The enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) and a red fluorescent protein (RFP) were fused to the C-terminus of E1 and E2, respectively. Viral vectors displaying specific ligand binding moieties have raised an increasing interest in the area of targeted gene therapy. In this report, we describe baculovirus vectors displaying either a functional single chain antibody fragment (scFv) specific for the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) or the synthetic IgG binding domains (ZZ) derived from protein A of Staphylococcus aureus. Calculation of excitation energies from the CC2 linear response theory using Cholesky decomposition

A new implementation of the approximate coupled cluster singles and doubles CC2 linear response model is reported. It employs a Cholesky decomposition of the two-electron integrals that significantly reduces the computational cost and the storage requirements of the method compared to standard implementations. Our algorithm also exploits a partitioning form of the CC2 equations which reduces the dimension of the problem and avoids the storage of doubles amplitudes. We present calculation of excitation energies of benzene using a hierarchy of basis sets and compare the results with conventional CC2 calculations. We consider nonlinear (driven by the p†Laplacian) and semilinear Robin problems with indefinite potential and strong resonance with respect to the principal eigenvalue. Regularization operators for natural images based on nonlinear perception models.

Image restoration requires some a priori knowledge of the solution. Some of the conventional regularization techniques are based on the estimation of the power spectrum density. Simple statistical models for spectral estimation just take into account second-order relations between the pixels of the image. However, natural images exhibit additional features, such as particular relationships between local Fourier or wavelet transform coefficients. Designing TCR for Cancer Immunotherapy

Reprogramming T-cell populations by T-cell receptor (TCR) gene transfer is a new therapeutic tool for adoptive tumor immunotherapy. Gene transfer of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-transgenic mice-derived TCR into human T-cells allows the circumvention of tolerance to tumor-associated (self) antigens (TAA). This chapter reports on the identification of the alpha and beta chains of the heterodimeric TCR derived from a mouse T-cell clone. The related DNA fragments are inserted into a retroviral vector for heterologous expression of the TAA-specific TCR in human T-cells. Coupled systems of non-smooth differential equations

Abstract We study the geometric qualitative behavior of a class of discontinuous vector fields in four dimensions. Explicit existence conditions of one-parameter families of periodic orbits for models involving two coupled relay systems are given. We derive existence conditions of one-parameter families of periodic solutions of systems of two second order non-smooth differential equations. We also study the persistence of such periodic orbits in the case of analytic perturbations of our relay systems. These results can be seen as analogous to the Lyapunov Centre Theorem.

Non-linear System Identification with Composite Relevance Vector Machines

Nonlinear system identification based on relevance vector machines (RVMs) has been traditionally addressed by stacking the input and/or output regressors and then performing standard RVM regression. This letter introduces a full family of composite kernels in order to integrate the input and output information in the mapping function efficiently and hence generalize the standard approach. An improved trade-off between accuracy and sparsity is obtained in several benchmark problems.
