Discussions of Fatherhood in Male Batterer Treatment Group

The aim of this study was to examine how men who have perpetrated violence toward their partners and participated in batterer group talked about being a father and how they perceived their own fatherhood. The discussion in the group was analyzed qualitatively by using the methods of content analysis. In traditional fatherhood, they talked about avoidant, passiveness, distant, indifference, and authoritative controlling ways of acting. These men also created an image of themselves as active and caring fathers, thus including empathy and nurture in the concept of fatherhood. The aim of the research was to develop a motor skills assessment tool for 4-6- year-old children that would include test items for body awareness and basic motor skills, therefore demonstrating the children’s motor performance and related problems and supporting the planning of training programs. First, the contents of nine existing motor skills assessment tools were analyzed. The effective implementation of positive behaviour intervention and support (PBIS) requires both organisational and professional change. This means that the whole community including all educators and children commit to shared principles, practices, and structures to create a safe and supportive social climate. In this article, we investigate the initial implementation of the Finnish PBIS ProVaka in eighteen early childhood education and care (ECEC) centres. Studies have shown that, on average, children’s physical activity (PA) levels in early childhood education and care (ECEC) environments are low, thus opening up the possibility of interventions. We examined the effect of the teacher-implemented one-year long ‘home-and-childcare-based intervention to promote physical activity’ (HIPPA) study on children’s PA in ECEC settings in Finland. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää Papilio-ohjelman lapsille suunnatun intervention vaikuttavuutta lasten sosioemotionaalisten taitojen kehittymisessä. Tutkimuksessa hyödynnettiin Jyväskylän yliopiston Papilio-ohjelma lasten sosioemotionaalisten taitojen tukemiseen ja itsesäätelypulmien ennaltaehkäisyyn -tutkimushankeen aineistoa, joka on kerätty syksyn 2015 ja kevään 2016 aikana 5–6-vuotiailta lapsilta. Papilio-hankkeen tarkoituksena on selvittää saksalaisen interventio-ohjelman siirrettävyyttä suomalaiseen varhaiskasvatuskontekstiin. Suomalais-venäläinen päiväkoti Kalinka perustettiin vuonna 1990. Sen tarkoitus oli tarjota kaksikielistä päivähoitoa Suomalais-venäläiseen kouluun meneville lapsille. Alkuperäinen ajatus oli tutustuttaa suomalaisten perheiden lapsia venäjän kieleen ja venäläiseen kulttuuriin. Yhteiskunnalliset muutokset ja erityisesti Neuvostoliiton hajoamisesta aiheutunut muuttoliike ovat asettaneet Kalinkan työlle uusia haasteita – päivähoidon piiriin on tullut suuri joukko venäjänkielisiä perheitä, joiden lapsille on tarjottava tukea oman äidinkielen suhteen sekä mahdollisuus suomen kielen alkeiden sekä maan tapakulttuurin opetteluun ennen koulun aloittamista. nonPeerReviewed
