Il progetto “Hierapolis Virtuale”. Esperienze di restauro virtuale e restituzione in 3d

2013

The Virtual Archaeology and Restoration Project emerged from the activities conducted since 1957 by the Italian Archaeological Mission in Hierapolis (MAIER). Its aim is the study of the transformations of the urban topography as part of a specific line of research called "Virtual Hierapolis". The contribution illustrated the state of the art of the research project of the years 2007-2010.

The contribution of Virtual Archaeology to the Marmora Phrygiae project

2016

In recent years Virtual Archaeology research activities were conducted in order to understand the urban and architectural transformations of Hierapolis. Five main lines of study were developed: (i) digital survey of the monuments, (ii) reconstructive study, (iii) digital analysis of data, (iv) 3D representation of the urban landscape and its evolution, (v) implementation of an online and offline platform. This paper discusses the main contributions these different activities made to the Marmora Phrygiae Project as regards both the study of the monuments and the reconstruction of the urban image of the city. KEYWORDS: Virtual Archaeology, digital survey and restoration, quantitative analysis…

2016

2009

The Temple of Seppannibale originally known as the church of San Pietro lo Petraro is located in Fasano and is a quadrangular building with three internal naves, with two small domes arranged in axis. Inside there are remains of frescoes from the Benevento school showing scenes showing some figures (perhaps Prophets) and scenes from the book of the Apocalypse. In the nineties, Gioia Bertelli, professor of archeology at the Department of Classical and Christian Studies of the University of Bari, was responsible for the archaeological investigations of the religious building and the settlement related to it. As part of this research, this preliminary contribution is part of the architectural …

Novel Configuration for a C-Band Axial Vircator With High Output Power

2022

We present a novel configuration for an axial virtual cathode oscillator (Vircator) operating in the C-band and designed for high output power applications. In order to enhance the efficiency, we have employed a geometry with up to seven reflectors along the drift space. While in previous research works this optimization process has been performed only varying the reflectors radii while using a fixed distance between reflectors,in our work we propose an optimization in terms of both reflectors radii and distances. Our optimized structure for the axial Vircator is able to provide an efficiency up to 15.6% and an output power of 1.6 GW in the C-band, with a working voltage of 510 kV and a cat…
