A Probabilistic Classification Procedure Based on Response Time Analysis Towards a Quick Pre-Diagnosis of Student's Attention Deficit

[EN] A classification methodology based on an experimental study is proposed towards a fast pre-diagnosis of attention deficit. Our sample consisted of school-aged children between 8 and 12 years from Valencia, Spain. The study was based on the response time (RT) to visual stimuli in computerized tasks. The process of answering consecutive questions usually follows an ex-Gaussian distribution of the RTs. Specifically, we seek to propose a simple automatic classification scheme of children based on the most recent evidence of the relationship between RTs and ADHD. Attempt to Construct a Scale for the Measurement of the Effect of Suggestion on Perception1

A scale based on experimental methods has been prepared for measuring the effects of indirect suggestion upon perception. Three categories are included: (1) distorting the interpretation of presented stimuli, (2) inducing sense-impressions in the absence of adequate stimuli, and (3) producing insensitivity to stimuli that are objectively present. Test situations were designed for tactual, auditory, and visual perception. The scale was tested on a sample of 112 students from the 11th and 12th grades of a large city high school (58 girls and 54 boys). This article examines whether Locke can consistently maintain that perception is a fully passive process. His view is put under scrutiny under two senses of activity. Does Locke reject active perception in light of his own understanding of activity; or rather, does he treat perception as passive in that the mind has only a general capacity of reception of ideas and does not contribute in specific ways to organizing specific types of perceptions? Miega kvalitātes rādītāju saistība ar vizuālās uztveres spējām

Bakalaura darba pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, vai cilvēkiem ar augstākiem miega kvalitātes rādītājiem ir precīzāka vizuālā uztvere. Pētījumā piedalījās 56 pieaugušie (34 sievietes; 22 vīrieši) vecumā no 18 līdz 63 gadiem (M=36,60, SD=12,90). Pētījumā tika izmantotas šādas metodes: Pitsburgas miega kvalitātes indeksa aptauja un Vizuālās uztveres tests. Pētījumā iegūtie rezultāti norāda, ka konkrētajā izlasē pastāv statistiski nozīmīgas korelācijas. It is unclear whether the association between the visual attention (VA) span and reading differs across languages. Here we studied this relationship in Arabic, where the use of specific reading strategies depends on the amount of diacritics on words: reading vowelized and nonvowelized Arabic scripts favor sublexical and lexical strategies, respectively. Do categorical representations modulate early automatic visual processing? A visual mismatch-negativity study.

Perceptual categorization is an important cognitive function. In the auditory domain, categorization already occurs within the first 200 ms of information processing, as indexed by the mismatch negativity. Here, we assessed the characteristics of the visual mismatch negativity (vMMN) elicited during the categorization of previously unknown visual stimuli.
