Genomic instability in the central nervous system (CNS) is associated with defective neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration. Congenital human syndromes that affect the CNS development originate from mutations in genes of the DNA damage response (DDR) pathways. RINT1 (Rad50-interacting protein 1) is a partner of RAD50, that participates in the cellular responses to DNA double-strand breaks (DSB). Recently, we showed that Rint1 regulates cell survival in the developing brain and its loss led to premature lethality associated with genomic stability. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over the left parietal cortex facilitates visual search for a letter among its mirror images

Interference by task irrelevant information is seen in visual search paradigms using letters. Thus, it is harder to find the letter 'N' among its mirror reversals 'Icyrillic' than vice versa. This observation, termed the reversed letter effect, involves both a linguistic association and an interference of task irrelevant information - the shape of 'N' or 'Icyrillic' is irrelevant, the search requires merely distinguishing the tilts of oblique bars. Anatomical correlate of positive spontaneous visual phenomena: a voxelwise lesion study.

Objectives: Visual phenomena such as phosphenes, photopsias, or complex visual hallucinations occur in patients with lesions affecting the occipital, parietal, or temporal lobe. Whether these phenomena are provoked by lesions in specific anatomical regions is still uncertain. To determine which brain regions might be involved in such visual phenomena, we used new brain imaging and lesion analysis tools that allow a direct comparison with control patients. Temporal Structure of Human Gaze Dynamics Is Invariant During Free Viewing.

We investigate the dynamic structure of human gaze and present an experimental study of the frequency components of the change in gaze position over time during free viewing of computer-generated fractal images. We show that changes in gaze position are scale-invariant in time with statistical properties that are characteristic of a random walk process. We quantify and track changes in the temporal structure using a well-defined scaling parameter called the Hurst exponent, H. We find H is robust regardless of the spatial complexity generated by the fractal images. Chromatic and achromatic visual fields in relation to choroidal thickness in patients with high myopia: A pilot study

Purpose. - To analyse the relationship between the choroidal thickness and the visual perception of patients with high myopia but without retinal damage. Methods. - All patients underwent ophthalmic evaluation including a slit lamp examination and dilated ophthalmoscopy, subjective refraction, best corrected visual acuity, axial length, optical coherence tomography, contrast sensitivity function and sensitivity of the visual pathways. [ES] El diseño gráfico es importante y necesario en el mundo de hoy porque la vista es la principal forma de adquisición de información. Por lo tanto, es lógico pensar que las ciencias de la visión pueden ayudar en la toma de decisiones a nivel de diseño. Comprender conceptos como la agudeza visual, la sensibilidad al contraste, entre otros, contribuirá a optimizar la legibilidad del texto a través de una selección óptima de parámetros tipográficos para formatos impresos y digitales. Además, entender el efecto de las diferentes alteraciones en la visión del color mejorará la accesibilidad del diseño.
