The purpose of the present work was to find a correlation between microencapsulation technology applied to wines and the resulting quality of the wine itself in terms of volatile composition and phenolic profile. Conium maculatum is a nitrophilous weed belonging to the Apiaceae family and occurring in hedgerows, pastures, waste ground, along rivers and roadsides. Little is known on the chemistry and bioactivity of other secondary metabolites occurring in the plant. Role of paramagnetic polyconjugated clusters in lignin antioxidant activity(in vitro)

Using physico-chemical methods (EPR, SEC, Py-GC/MS and UV/VIS spectroscopy) and wet chemical analysis, the characteristics of 6 hardwood lignins in terms of functionality, molecular weight and composition of lignin substructures were determined and considered together with the results of DPPH•, ABTS•+ and O2•− antioxidant assays with the aim to understand the relationships governing antioxidant properties of lignin. Inhibition of induced DNA oxidative damage by beers: correlation with the content of polyphenols and melanoidins.

Beers are a source of dietary flavonoids; however, there exist differences in composition, alcohol concentration, and beneficial activities. To characterize these differences, three kinds of lager beer of habitual consumption in Spain, dark, blond, and alcohol-free, were assayed for total phenolic content, antioxidant activity, superoxide and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities, and in vitro inhibitory effect on DNA oxidative damage. Triterpenoids, tocopherols, and phytosterols presented in unsaponifiable fraction of grape seed oil have several beneficial effects comprising antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor capacities. Abstract Essential oils of Eryngium foetidum L. (Apiaceae) in the South Vietnam isolated by hydrodistillation under conventional heating or microwave irradiation showed somewhat similar in chemical compositions. The microwave method gave a higher extraction yield in a much shorter time frame than the conventional heating protocol.
