This is the introduction to the volume "Impression(s)". The articles presented in this cluster discuss literary and visual impressions from the premise that literary impressionism and printmaking share the trope of impression as “impress” and as “imprints” in a technical and epistemological sense. Most works on Impressionism and literary impressionism dwell on the genealogy and mutual influence of fiction and painting, but few authors tackle the importance of printmaking. ABSTRACT: Although Italian influences prevail in the visual tradition of Prudence, beginning in the 15th century a new iconographic type emerges as a result of a «new visuality» deriving from French art. This innovation has been considered «monstrous» and breaking with the preceding visual tradition. However, this new visual manifestation is a result of the continuation of philosophic theories about Prudence. What is more, Italian art offers a response to the «new visuality» with another new iconographic type of the Prudence.

We use art and design education incorporating creative aspects that range from the textual discourses of visual culture (cinema) and typography to issues of sexual diversity and queer dissidences. The painter from Castellón, Joaquin Oliet Cruellas, carried out prolific mural decorations for various churches in Valencia, Alicante and Castellón in which his intense visual culture is evident.
